Tuesday 11 August 2020, Day 72 of Level 3, after 66 days at Levels 5 and 4. 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a productive day work-wise; for the rain just starting to fall now ☔️, after a dry and cloudy day, not too cold at 16C; for a walk through Camps Bay, linked to a shop at Pick n Pay; for fabulous support from Michele Antelme about my review of Quince Restaurant, receiving a barrage of hate comments, having to switch off the Comment facility eventually, even my doctor’s wife giving me an earful… 😂; for a shorter walk through Bakoven; for chatting to Colleen de Villiers; for my fabulous warm bed with its electric blanket, making me sleep like a baby; for dancing to Kfm Dansdag, so happy that Carl and Zoe are back in their usual slot; for a call from Stuart Bailey; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
Whilst writing my Quince review, I heard the loud voice of Michael the homeless guy who threatened me verbally yesterday, walking past my house with more abuse at the top of his voice. I have briefed Henry about him. I went to the police station to check why he was out on the street again, but the staff on duty yesterday were not there today, so I had to tell the new staff again. Michael has such a cosy relationship with the police that they allow him to charge his phone there, and cleans outside their building, the only cleaning they do…. talk about unbiased policing…. 😱.
Late this afternoon the action started happening in my Lockdown Restaurant Group, describing my Review of Quince as ‘horrible’, yet feeling entitled to insult me about it, such double standards. Chef Graham started a one on one abuse session in Messenger, saying that he didn’t come to chat to our table as we were not wearing masks, so I asked him how he expected us to eat?! The other partner Rael started an attack on my Facebook page, as did a relative of Graham! In the end I switched off the Comments for the Facebook Group. Phew ….
Restaurant Review: There are no quinces on the menu at Quince Restaurant, poor Covid compliance!
I’ve seen the former Seeff offices and the office next to it undergo a big renovation, and spoke to Herman, the co-owner this afternoon, to find out more. We are to be blessed with the Firefly Café coffee shop downstairs, and an organic grocery shop upstairs…. wow, so looking forward to having a proper sit-down coffee shop in Camps Bay by the end of this month. 💙

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
