Corona Gratitude š
#Grateful for a busy weekend, now being able to catch my breath again, and grateful that the Presidentās Speech has been postponed to tomorrow; for a warm day at about 22C, with glorious sunshine; for a walk through Camps Bay this morning, surprised about the protection I received from managers of businesses across the road as well as our security company, when a drunk/tikked homeless woman threatened to hit me with a brick š±; for having been invited by owner Judi Fourie to attend the opening of her wow Fideliās Deli, next door to her Pilcrow & Cleaver on Parliament Street, formerly a branch of Kleinskyās; becoming the new outletās first customer, buying an Argentinian mini cake to bring as a gift to my lunch hostess; for a lovely lunch out in Durbanville at the home of Lorraine Adam, whom I met in our Tourist Guiding class in January, meeting some of her friends; for another Camps Bay walk on my return home, shocked at the volume of litter; for a lovely online Hope @ Home concert from Berlin by Daniel Hope; for the launch of a beach clean initiative by okja, offering a free coffee for every bucket of litter picked up on Camps Bay Beach, to be launched tomorrow š; and for being happy and healthy but tired. šš
This morning my team of three cleaners arrived early, to collect garbage bags. Sadly I could see no sign of them on my second walk, the litter everywhere identifying a problem! All three of them have cellphone/airtime limitations, making contact with them almost impossible. š±. I tried to do my best to pick up the litter near the Tidal Pool and on the Beachfront.
Everything which Chef Judi creates is a wow. She is a dedicated chef/owner, at her Pilcrow & Cleaver restaurant almost day and night seven days a week, and is adding the most beautifully presented Fideliās Deli to her portfolio. I was allowed to buy some items, the cake gift, a croissant, an avo, chicken liver pĆ¢tĆ©, cherries, and a slice of cake with a popcorn topping, becoming customer number one. I loved the refreshing non-alcoholic Watermelon Margarita. I saw Izak Niewoudt of Siris Vintners, and even Neil Pendock at a distance, who seems to have stopped writing. š±
Germany is going into a hard lockdown from Wednesday 16 December, until 10 January. š·š±š· Everything will be closed, except pharmacies and supermarkets.
Lorraine has a lovely home in Durbanville, with two dogs, and a large garden. We lunched out on her terrace, with her friends Ria and Paolo from Darling; and Steve and Crystal, Steve having studied with me at Stellenbosch, and I bumping into them two years ago at the B&B which I stayed at in Apricale in Italy, an amazing small world. Lunch was superb, and Iāll have to work hard in working off all the eating of this weekend. š±

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
