Friday 11 September 2020, Day 25 of Level 2, Day 169 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a warmer day, but not feeling like the forecast 23C; for a beautiful sunset combined with clouds, making for great photographs; for sleeping off all the horridness of yesterday afternoon, feeling energized and calm and peaceful today; for lunch with Henry at Firefly Café, which served food for the first time today; for a lovely trip to Regent Road in Sea Point, buying another pair of shorts at PnP Clothing and ordering more; for the surprise discovery of Bokeh Creative Space, a hairdresser/coffee bar opened on Regent Road by Adrian Lazarus last week, he recognizing me as a Facebook Friend (we had never met) and inviting me inside; for buying little treats at Spar and Woolies, the latter enlarged, having added the space of the former Tops; for a gift of five bespoke Kalahari Salts, delivered by Mark McCarthy from Iconic Brands; for another walk to Camps Bay, loving the sunset at the Tidal Pool and a long chat with Law Enforcement Officer Ivor Ramsay; for dancing to Kfm 💃; for hearing from my Camps Bay Clean helper Joel, not having done so in a month, coming back to work tomorrow; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Thursday 10 September 2020, Day 24 of Level 2, Day 168 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful sunny day even if it was quite windy, our first early Spring South Easter; for a long writing morning; for a walk to Camps Bay; for the Pick n Pay store manager lending me his Pick n Pay card so that I could make use of the special offer on their strawberries 🍓, only offered to customers with their Smart Card and not with my Discovery Pick n Pay card 🙏; for some admin issues related to the Hermanus house sale, and the apartment block; for a walk through Bakoven, where the wind felt more chilly; for some Sectional Title advice from Lucille; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

A West Coast Road Trip: Cape Town – Darling – Malmesbury, rocking the daisies!

It was my first road trip outside Cape Town in many months, I realised, not having left Cape Town in a year, other than a short business trip to Stellenbosch earlier during Lockdown. The reason for the trip was an opportunity to see the wild flowers of the West Coast, particularly spectacular this year due to the heavy winter rains, on the Waylands Farm private nature reserve outside Darling, owned by John and Jeanette Duckitt. It became a mini Huguenot High School Matric English class reunion, this being our 50th anniversary of leaving school, and celebrating 62 years of five of us having started school together in Wellington 62 years ago. Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a Roadtrip with Jenny Stephens, our first escape from Cape Town since Lockdown started, and a mini reunion of our Matric class of 50 years ago, five of us knowing each other since Sub A in Wellington, 62 years ago ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️; for a Breakfast spoil with our hosts Jeanette and John Duckitt; for Elaine Wegelin and Bev Bestbier joining us for tea, catching up on the past year since we last saw each other; for an informative drive and walk through the Waylands Wildflower Reserve outside Darling, boasting wild flowers of many varieties and even a mole snake, John telling us all the botanical names, such beauty growing wild; for a spoil lunch together, going back into our past, with lots of laughter; for meeting Chef and Restaurateur Benitha Nel of Peaberry Café in Malmesbury, returning to Cape Town from there, a fabulous trip on the N7; for being happy to see my cats again, having been very well-behaved; for two Discovery Gameboard plays, winning 325 Miles; for calls with Jenny and Jeanette; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
