Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 1 of Level 1, 1 March 2021.

Monday 1 March 2021, Day 1 of Level 1, Day 341 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for having a relaxed day; for having written my Blogpost for today last night after the President’s Speech; for a few drops of rain after thunder in the distance; for Henry helping me buy my first airtime/data via the Vodacom App, much cheaper than buying it via my Standard Bank App; for a walk through Bakoven, looking for a spade which Imtiaz had left at the public toilets 😱; for an afternoon snooze, still needing to catch up on weekend sleep; for a walk to Camps Bay to collect my Maverick 168 which Odwa had kept for me, not having more energy than walking as far as Mynt, picking up lots of litter left over from yesterday; for the wow 500 Discovery points I earned nevertheless, 15400 points so far this year, perhaps getting far more speed in my new Adidas shoes; for a catch up sunset snack chat on my terrace with Jenny Stephens; for my Bestie Llewellyn registering the website address www.whaletalesblog.com for me; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 64 of Level 3 Adjusted, 27 February 2021.

Saturday 27 February 2021, Day 64 of Level 3 Adjusted, Day 339 of Lockdown, 11 month of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful day at 28C, with almost no wind; for surviving the day with only 2 1/2 hours of sleep after terrible noise disturbance by renters of the apartment above me until 3h00 this morning, as well as Full Moon; to Emma at The 41 for strengthening me and pulling up my spirits with a Dilmah tea, and a delicious croissant with egg and bacon, served on the beachfront lawn 💙; for a fabulous community beach clean up, with Camps Bay High learners and drama students from the LATMA Academy at the Theatre on the Bay joining in; for finally giving up on my Reebok shoes which I bought in Havana 20 months ago, easily having walked 4500 km in them, now for Mr Grey to play with, he loving chewing the shoelaces; for a high-cardio walk to 3rd Beach in Clifton and back, earning 300 Discovery points; for a second beach clean this afternoon at the Tidal Pool, two High School learners and a mom joining me in removing masses of litter; for the peace and quiet in our building tonight, as the noise creators checked out this morning; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 62 of Level 3, 1 August 2020.

Saturday 1 August 2020, Day 62 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful 21C day, feeling like a sunny beach summer day, putting a spring into our steps; for surviving some tense hours as a cat mom, all ending well, with Michele Antelme assuring me that all would be good, and it was 😻; for breakfast with Jenny Stephens on top of Sea Point, enjoying sitting on the 9th floor terrace of Latitude Café; for buying the pair of Adidas shoes from Sportsman’s Warehouse that I had seen online, and for feeling like I’m floating on clouds, soooo comfortable; for spending my Discovery voucher on some Blood sugar test strips at DisChem; for popping into a busy Kleinsky’s to buy poppyseed bagels; for Jenny recommending that I buy a slice of apple tart at Baker Brothers in De Waterkant rather than at the nursery on Main Road in Sea Point, which led me to park outside Kong Grill & Bar, into which I was welcomed and spoilt like I was coming home, having danced there many an evening; for a walk through a very busy Camps Bay, some persons celebrating Eid here, I asking a lady if I could photograph her in her beautiful yellow dress; for rescuing a Woolworths trolley; for dancing to the Kfm Blok party; and for being happy and healthy 🙏💙 Continue reading →

The tide is turning, keeping the ocean clean an increasing trend!

Few of my Blog readers will know that I have taken the stream near the Camps Bay Tidal Pool under my wing, cleaning it twice a day. One piece of paper or plastic litter in a stream has made me see it all over Camps Bay, when I walk the Promenade twice a day, and sadly everywhere I go in Cape Town. I was delighted that Adidas and Parley have joined forces, to turn ocean plastic into shoes.  Continue reading →
