Sunday 26 July 2020, Day 56 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for the rain which fell overnight, making it a cooler 17C day today, oddly with a summer South- Easter, but very nippy, especially now as the sun has set; for two tea dates today, with Lynne Gordon at La Belle Bistro & Bakery, and then with Mahmud Fredericks at Maison J; for a walk through Camps Bay, and through Bakoven this afternoon; for another fabulous concert with Daniel Hope of Hope@Home on Tour with Salut Salon, performing from Potsdam; for doing my Accounting for June and most of July, proud of how frugal I have become; for ending the day with a lovely chat with Charlotte Zachariou in Knysna;  and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Terra Madre small Greek Family Food business, produce ‘handcrafted with love’!

On Friday I needed to travel to Hermanus, and stopped at Terra Madre in Elgin, being overwhelmed by the energy of owner Chef Nicole Precoudis, and her organic-style home-prepared produce, which can be purchased on their farm, online, as well as at an increasing number of outlets in Cape Town, or one can have it delivered weekly to one’s home. Conflict of interest: La Motte Culinary Director reviews Franschhoek restaurants for Eat Out

Eat-Out-mag-coverEarlier this year I was shocked to see that the La Motte Culinary Director (and wife of its red wine maker Edmund Terblanche) as well as Kokkedoor judge Hetta van Deventer had reviewed De Warenmarkt for Eat Out. Now it appears from the new Eat Out 2016 magazine that she reviewed a number of Franschhoek and other Boland restaurants (many on wine farms too) that are in direct competition with Pierneef Ă  la Motte restaurant!
