Sunday 26 July 2020, Day 56 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4. 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for the rain which fell overnight, making it a cooler 17C day today, oddly with a summer South- Easter, but very nippy, especially now as the sun has set; for two tea dates today, with Lynne Gordon at La Belle Bistro & Bakery, and then with Mahmud Fredericks at Maison J; for a walk through Camps Bay, and through Bakoven this afternoon; for another fabulous concert with Daniel Hope of Hope@Home on Tour with Salut Salon, performing from Potsdam; for doing my Accounting for June and most of July, proud of how frugal I have become; for ending the day with a lovely chat with Charlotte Zachariou in Knysna; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
Lynne is an avid swimmer, and only began swimming in the Tidal Pool three months ago. It reminded me that I wasn’t too shabby a swimmer myself, having swum for Boland and Stellenbosch University. She asks me to photograph her and her friend Linda Gawronsky in the Pool when I see them, and this led to our tea date, she bringing media correspondent Morgan Behr too. A lovely long chat to get to know each other. Lynne says that she and I have optimism in common, and she called us ‘gallavanters’. I told them that I’m now a ‘QueenTeen’, when one is far too young to reveal one’s real age…. 👸🏼😂 #thankyou Lynne
I completed my round of Camps Bay, and saw that the Deli and nursery at Sunset Sessions, run by the Bay Hotel, is no longer operating, confirmed by a hotel security guard. 😱
I bumped into Mahmud on my walk, and he invited me to tea at Maison J. I learnt that they only serve oat and almond milk now, which one can buy in one liter cartons too. And I was delighted to hear that Mahmud, who returns to Holland soon to continue his studies there, has been selected to represent our country at a United Nations Health Management Conference in Abu Dhabi in November. 👏👏👏 #thankyou Mahmud.
Discovery Vitality is not known to ever lower the bar, making us work harder for fewer points. But, surprisingly, this week they moved the bar down to 7500 steps to earn 100 points, from 10000. I won’t move down, keeping to my minimum 10000, as I would be cheating myself 👣.
It is incredibly cold this evening. So early to a warm bed, with popcorn 🍿 and a movie.
An interesting day lies ahead, with a massive protest planned for Cape Town tomorrow morning. Many businesses, especially those in the city centre, may be closed. 😱
SA Corona Status 445433 cases 6769 deaths 😷😥
FitBit 12000 steps 8,5 km 👣

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
