Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 21, 16 April 2020.

Thursday 16 April 2020, Day 32 of SA Corona Virus, Day 21 of SA Lockdown đŸ˜·

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for the lovely gentle rain all morning, which made me stay and work in bed, my best indulgence since Lockdown started three weeks ago; for the weather turning into a warm and sunny afternoon, allowing to me to do a Vit D catch up on the terrace; for a walk to the shops for Essentials, picking up litter on the way, surprised to see empty alcohol bottles lying around near the stream; for hearing from my Munich friend Marlene Du Plessis-Zoetl for the first time in three weeks since she became terribly ill; for dancing around my couch 500 plus times to exceed my step goal; for the last day of the first three weeks of Lockdown; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Sweet Service Award goes to City of Cape Town; Sour Service Award goes to Standard Bank!

The Sweet Service Award goes to the City of Cape Town, for its generous once-off donation of 2000 garbage bags to Camps Bay Clean, my litter clean-up initiative in Camps Bay, facilitated by Camps Bay/Sea Point Councillor Nicola Jowell.  Councillor Nicola personally delivered the bags to my home yesterday. Wizardz Sweet Service Award; Senior Advocate André Bosman Sour Service Award!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Wizardz, and its assistant Yumnah, who assisted me in the layout and first print run of my first book ‘SwitchBitch: My journey of transformation from Sour to Sweet’. I had a deadline for the launch for 20 December, and I was in Yumnah’s hands to get the copies printed and bound by the day before. I received a message on the 15th already, telling me that the books were ready for collection at the Garden Centre branch. This was unexpectedly good service. In a very quick turnaround time, the staff was also able to print a small amount of menus onto the photograph of the book cover, which meant that I did not have to wait for them or return to fetch them!  Continue reading →

Sweet Service Award goes to MAC cosmetics; Sour Service Award goes to Uber!

The Sweet Service Award goes to MAC cosmetics in the V&A Waterfront, and its assistant manager Kerry Trainer. I wanted to buy my favorite lipstick and gave her the name of the colour, only to be told that the colour has been discontinued, something which happens so often in cosmetics. She said she could have the stock room checked for any last lipsticks in this colour, if I could wait for a while. I returned and was irritated that the person fetching the lipsticks still had not returned to the shop. When I returned a second time, the lipstick had arrived, plus a sample one, which Kerry offered me for free, due to the colour being discontinued. She offered to look for more of the lipstick colour at other branches, and called me back, to tell me that she had found five for me at Cavendish Square, and that they would keep them for me until I could collect them.  Continue reading →
