The Sweet Service Award goes to The Creamery at the new Harbour View in the V & A Waterfront, and to Marvellous, for his marvellous service when I wanted to pay for my ice cream treat in cash. They only accept payment by credit card, probably not due to Covid, but due to staff pilfering! Putting R44 on a credit card is ridiculous! Taxi Sweet Service and ABSA Sour Service Awards!
The Sweet Service Award goes to a taxi service (I did not note its name) based at the airport, which is allowed to tout for business as passengers arrive at Cape Town International. I had planned to use Uber, but had to get the roaming switched off first, and had experienced the problem of where the Uber pick-up point is at an airport when calling Uber in Nice, so was open to be sold the taxi service. I asked whether the service would equal the Uber rate, and he confidently said that he could offer the service for R250, usually charged at R300 or R350!
