Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 70 of Level 3, Women’s Day, 9 August 2020.

Sunday 9 August 2020, Day 70 of Level 3, after 66 days at Levels 5 and 4. 😷 Women’s Day

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for all the glorious rain that has fallen since last night, with a happy garden, and it not being too chilly; for two walking gaps in between the rain, allowing me a Camps Bay walk and a Woolies shop on the way at lunchtime, and an afternoon one in Bakoven with slight drizzle; for the amazing kindness of receiving a bunch of roses from Woolies Manager Gary Arendse for Women’s Day, so spoilt with this branch so close by; for being so inspired by all the stories of the women restaurant owners in the Cape, posted here as well as in the Facebook Group; for surviving a dreadful attack in a Camps Bay Facebook Group; for a rainy day afternoon snooze; for dancing the balance of my steps to Kfm; for a Discovery Cashback for my healthy Woolies food purchases; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 65 of Level 5, 4 August 2020.

Tuesday 4 August 2020, Day 65 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for the rain which fell on and off today, lapped up by the vegetable and flower garden, catching me unawares when I did a quick walk to Maison J to get croissants 🥐, getting sopping wet but it was worth every drop in gifting Camps Bay with a beautiful rainbow 🌈 over Bali Bay; for Stuart Bailey coming to try to help me on his laptop with my Amazon job application; for the walk through the city centre, rediscovering it as a Tourist Guide, barely recognizing it, it being so quiet and so many business doors closed; for a indulgent Hot Chocolate at Honest Chocolate, nice and warm inside on this very cold 14C day; for collecting my tourist Guide card from the Western Cape Dept of Economic Affairs & Tourism on St George’s Mall, hardly recognizable without any stalls, looking like a European city pedestrian lane without any pedestrians 😱; for celebrating the two month battle of becoming officially registered as a Tourist Guide with an excellent lunch at Villa 47; for doing the Discovery Health Check at Clicks Glengariff Road 😱; for the assistance by Johan Prins and Bradley Moore to try to get the Amazon application completed; for getting into my warm bed already; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Restaurant Review: Quentin at Oakhurst Barn serves Cape Country Cuisine, blends Brit & Boer in his eclectic decor!

From never having been to eat at Quentin at Oakhurst Barn in Hout Bay, I was lucky to be part of a group of friends who love it so much that I enjoyed one dinner and a Sunday lunch, offering Cape Country Cuisine, both in the same week, earlier this month. I was astounded at this restaurant gem, the best in Hout Bay but also the most hidden, tucked away in a little lane off the Main Road on the way to Constantia, the popularity of this restaurant based purely on word of moth reputation. Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 54 of Level 3, 24 July 2020.

Friday 24 July 2020, Day 54 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4, Day 120 of Lockdown😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

Is it just me, but doesn’t it feel like a superb summer holiday day at 24 C, with swimmers in the Tidal Pool, picnickers coming to the Bakoven beaches at sunset, and one having a good start to the weekend? 😊🌞⭐️

My Blogpost today was the Sweet and Sour Service Awards, which went to Discovery Insure and ADT, respectively. Continue reading →
