Friday 16 July 2021, Day 19 of Level 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a most beautiful day, with sunshine at 17C, a shorts and sleeveless top day; for getting my writing done this morning and admin this afternoon; for a longer walk today, up Houghton Road, and down my secret Bakoven lanes, photographing flowers in the main, reflecting the beauty in my life; for being a peaceful day in the Cape, feeling totally safe here; and for being happy, healthy, and free.

The Sweet Service Award went to Labotessa Café; the Sour Service Award went to the Department of Home Affairs!

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June and extended by two weeks on 11 July,  is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.

Sweet Service Award goes to De Vleispaleis; Sour Service Award goes to EbbTide Apartment 201!

The Sweet Service Award goes to De Vleispaleis in Stellenbosch, and its owner Stuart Bailey, for creating a Byt Ready Meals food delivery service in Stellenbosch for his staff, to assist them in getting income in the time in which the restaurant is closed in accordance with Level 4 Lockdown regulations.  Given that the President is likely to extend Level 4 on Sunday, by a possible further two weeks, and that the Government has promised to provide TERS/UIF support but that such payment could be slow in coming, Stuart encouraged his staff to form a collective to offer basic home-cooked meals such as macaroni and cheese, lasagne, cottage pie, and chicken a la king for delivery, gave them the left-over fresh produce of the restaurant, offered them packaging material as well as the services of his design team, while he has closed De Vleispaleis until the Level 4 Lockdown is lifted.
