Government described as ‘irresponsible’ for not allowing Restaurant Sit-Down Service at Lockdown Level 3!

Despite being on the mailing list of the Restaurant Association of South Africa (RASA), I did not receive the media statement which formed the basis of a Saturday Star story this past weekend about the Restaurant industry, and how it is suffering. Usually polite about the Government in its communication, this report presents a more critical RASA, describing the Government as ‘irresponsible’ in not allowing restaurants to open for a sit-down Service. Currently Restaurants are allowed to offer a Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection Service in Lockdown Level 3. Continue reading →

Monday 8 June 2020, Day 8 of Level 3, after 66 days of Level 4 and 5 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a peaceful organized day; for a sunny day, not too cold even though it only reached 18C, with midday mist; for completing the complicated 4-page Form of the Provincial Tourism authority, sending it with 5 certificates of support, after getting all the certificates stamped at the police station; for getting my admin work for the day done quickly; for a shorter walk than normal, my hip being very painful today, probably due to the change in weather coming soon; for a lovely snooze this afternoon; for a long chat to restaurateur Ian Halfon, who is opening a mega Food Delivery and Collection service from Friday onwards (Blogpost tomorrow); and for being fit and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Thursday 28 May 2020, Day 28 of Level 4, after 35 days at Level 5. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for the copious amount of rain we’ve had today, it still raining, and forecast to do so until tomorrow morning; for getting myself out of bed on a grey cold day, the rain holding back, until Exercise Time was done, making it very pleasant to walk, with very few exercisers; with not a single bag of garbage lying on a Victoria Road pavement in Camps Bay and Glen Beach, yesterday’s torn bags collected by the Council, and there being minimal litter 👏👏👏; for writing all day; for keeping warm by dancing 💃 and drinking tea in between the writing; for a reasonable presentation by Madame Zol Zuma, with no surprises, but then the ability of restaurants to sell sealed bottles of alcohol from Monday onwards came out of the blue, allowed even by home-delivery; for a generous Olympus Mixed Grill delivered by Zeus Greek Yeros Bar in town, with a large helping of meat, offered by one of the members of the Facebook Food Delivery Group, I running a competition for them today; for the Facebook Group Restaurant list growing to 537, with 4300 plus members; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
