Saturday 7 August 2021, Day 12 of Level 3 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a slow start to the day, building up in speed and action, with a lovely spontaneous ending; for a peaceful morning working and a second snooze; for a shopping walk to Woolies; for a tea visit by Hans-Werner Klein and Rose Klein, just warm enough to sit outside, it being misty all day; for the sad yet happy memorial service for David Morris on Zoom, my first such experience; for taking photographs of Eden Smith, the prize winner of a Utopia giveaway done in conjunction with Continue reading →

Saturday 5 June 2021, Day 6 of Adjusted Level 2 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a very hardworking day, catching up on admin, and doing my daily posting; for surviving two sleep disruptions caused by a group of new clients in our building; for a beautiful day at 20C, and forecast to be even warmer tomorrow; for utilizing Loadshedding this morning to do the non-internet admin catch-up, creating a Social Media posting schedule for June, and for a walk, up my secret Bakoven lanes and then to Woolies and Pick n Pay, the latter only because Woolies didn’t have what I needed; for a pop-in at Utopia, and then at Anatoli Turkish Restaurant, to photograph Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a long day focused on Foooood, and mainly spent in Stellenbosch; for rain that fell overnight and light rain on the way to Stellenbosch; for a Brie and egg purchase at Dalewood Fromage outside Franschhoek, my favorite farm shop with excellent service always; for a quick walk in Church Street, not being able to resist the fabulous ice cream at Crème de Levain; for discovering Eike restaurant and its Snoepie (Tuck Shop) off Dorp Street, buying a Tex bar for R2 less than the price at Pick n Pay 😊; for a lovely spoiling lunch at De Vleispaleis on Dorp Street, belonging to my friend Stuart Bailey, trying the new Set Menu which starts next week from 1 April, and meeting his new dog baby Max; for a visit to Stellenbosch Square, shopping at Woolworths, finding a nice fitting pair of shoes but with poor service, with long queues at the tills; for getting back to Peppertree Café on Kloof Street just in time to collect figs I’d ordered; for a walk through Bakoven; for a visit to Anatoli, trying and photographing new dishes made by Chef Jacques du Toit, and photographing Beth the belly dancer ; for my cat babies forgiving me for leaving them at home alone all day; for it being so quiet in our building, half the renters spending the weekend elsewhere 👏; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
