Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a very hardworking day, catching up on admin, and doing my daily posting; for surviving two sleep disruptions caused by a group of new clients in our building; for a beautiful day at 20C, and forecast to be even warmer tomorrow; for utilizing Loadshedding this morning to do the non-internet admin catch-up, creating a Social Media posting schedule for June, and for a walk, up my secret Bakoven lanes and then to Woolies and Pick n Pay, the latter only because Woolies didn’t have what I needed; for a pop-in at Utopia, and then at Anatoli Turkish Restaurant, to photograph new winter dishes created by Chef Jacques du Toit; for being alerted by Russell Zieff of a new Smarties discount deal at the FreshStop, not as good as the previous one yet still a better price than at other retailers; and for being happy, healthy, and free.

Lisa Hayden celebrated her 40th birthday at Utopia this evening, in lieu of not being able to do so last year due to Lockdown. She invited me to pop in for a cocktail, which I did just after sunset. She was one of at least two other birthday celebrators at Utopia Cape Town. On Tuesday she celebrates her 41st birthday.

I love my job, the writing part in particular, but also a lovely evening like tonight, tasting and photographing three new dishes going onto the Anatoli Winter Menu next week, with Chef Jacques and co-owner Russell Zieff. #thankyou

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
