Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a 27C day, the wind picking up now; for the invitation to meet restaurateur Victor Gonçalves of NV-80 in Sea Point and have Dilmah Earl Grey tea with him; for finding three-quarter leggings next door at Pick n Pay Clothing, not being able to find then at Woolies; for getting my power bank cable problem sorted at a Pakistani cellphone shop on Main Road, and my glass protection screen replaced at a reduced price, feeling as good as new now; for sitting down and writing all afternoon; for an energetic walk to Clifton and back, gaining 300 points; for the delivery from TakeaLot of two generic Cannon printer cartridges, costing next to nothing by comparison and working perfectly; and for being happy and healthy 🙏💙. Utopia Restaurant towers above all other restaurants in Cape Town, excellent elevated dining!

 

In my mind the Silo Hotel in the Waterfront was Cape Town highest restaurant and bar, although more bar on the 11th floor and restaurant on the 6th floor. A year ago that record was broken by Utopia when it opened as an Upmarket Bistro, in the Mirage building in De Waterkant, on the 15th floor, offering dining with a 360 degree view of the Mother City.

I was invited to try the 120-seater restaurant, which is a member of my Lockdown Sit-Down, Deliveries and Collection Facebook Group, for Lunch on Saturday, experiencing its Elevated Dining Restaurant and Bar.

#Grateful for another lucky day of this lucky week; for meeting the team of 18 Camps Bay Car Guards when they were introduced to us as residents (all 4 of us who pitched) this morning, and spoilt with a donut treat; for an invitation to lunch at Utopia on the 15th floor of the Mirage building in De Waterkant, to try out the restaurant with a view, the highest restaurant in Cape Town, a lovely lunch with generous portions; for a second Camps Bay walk to buy the third Daily Maverick 168 to date; for dancing to the Kfm Blok Party; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Restaurants offering Sit-Down service in Cape Town and Winelands in Lockdown Level 3: a First List!

 

On Monday restaurants were allowed to reopen for Sit-Down Service, after having only been allowed to offer a Food Delivery service from May, and a Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection Service from June onwards.

I have been requested to prepare a list of Restaurants offering a Sit-Down Service, in addition to the Facebook Group which I created of Restaurants offering Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection. The majority of restaurants offering a Sit-Down service will continue offering a Food and Alcohol Delivery and/or Collection Service.  Continue reading →
