July 2022 Restaurant Update: Cape Town and Winelands, new re-openings!

 

New restaurants are still opening, or planning to open, in Cape Town and the Winelands, despite it being Winter.

The biggest recent restaurant opening has been by Chef Liam Tomlin, who opened The Bailey, a three storey Brasserie, Bakery, and two Bars across the road from Heritage Square. He has closed down his Chefs Warehouse on Bree Street. Ouzeri also opened last month.

Restaurant Artizian will open on Bree Street in August. Chef Peter Tempelhoff is said to open a Japanese Street Food restaurant on the ground floor of Speakers Corner, the building in which FYN operates, in September. Sweet Service Award goes to Avanzate; Sour Service Award goes to Standard Bank!

 

The Sweet Service Award goes to Avanzate beauty salon, in the Old Cape Quarter in De Waterkant, for its invitation to a complimentary massage, a welcome treat at the end of a short and busy week. The therapist was very quiet-spoken but had strong massage hands, highlighting that I had stress points and knots which I had not acknowledged, not having been to a massage in years. The very friendly receptionist offered me a glass of water, and explained their services to me, which include Pedicures and Manicures, Facials, Waxing, and more.

#grateful for a day of spoiling 🙏; for a quick post for a client; for a good Camps Bay Community Beach Clean, with 6 adults and 3 children, filling 10 bags, and meeting a new resident of Camps Bay, and a German family which has just taken over a Sea Point guest house; for bumping into Johnny Nortje on the beachfront, with a catch up after a long time of not seeing each other; for being spoilt by The 41 Restaurant, our Camps Bay Clean sponsors, with tea and water on the lawn at the Beach, and then with a breakfast, their Manager Emma Farquharson being extremely efficient 💙; for Continue reading →
