Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 170 of Level 1, 19 March 2022

Saturday 19 March 2022, Day 170 of Level 1 😷

Corona Lockdown Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a lovely day, at 30C plus in parts of the city, a strong wind coming up late afternoon; for doing some work this morning; for a Hartlief shop in the Gardens Centre, so lovely when the staff asked where I’ve been; for finding tiny figs at Food Lovers Market, amazingly priced, not going there regularly enough; for attending a charity German Rotary Club Garden Party at the residence of Madam Consul of Germany in Bishopscourt, selling Bratwurst and Leberkäse on rolls, and beer, Continue reading →

Monday 28 September 2020, Day 8 of Level 1, Day 186 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another rainy day, surprising as it wasn’t forecast on my Weather App, making it a cosy day in bed, writing and doing admin; for the cats keeping me company in my bed, KitKat having got sopping wet when the rain arrived suddenly; for a successful cancellation of my Building Insurance given that the Hermanus house Transfer is close to happening, and is now the responsibility of the purchaser; for a chat with a recruiter for a German language travel job; for a refreshing walk to Camps Bay, getting caught in the rain, and popping in at the Law Enforcement Office of my friend Officer Ivor Ramsay, getting advice about the alleged illegal activities in Camps Bay; for being a calm and relaxed day; for my Resting Heart Rate being on a steady decline since the beginning of the ‘long weekend’; for dancing the rest of my steps to Kfm; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 8 of Level 2, 25 August 2020.

Tuesday 25 August 2020, Day 8 of Level 2, 152 days of Lockdown. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for the rain we are having today, more than was forecast ☔️; for being lucky to walk to Camps Bay in a sunny window, before more rain arrived, raining now again ☔️; for 8 hours of sleep in total, even though it was in batches, after Miss Minsky had a sociable evening and came back home in the early hours of this morning 🙀; for a restaurant information scoop which became my Blogpost today; for my resting heart rate steadily dropping after it was alarmingly climbing until this weekend; for finding my shopping bag on the Camps Bay Promenade, where I had left it after sitting on it for a short walking break, giving me extra steps to have to walk back when I needed it for my Woolies’s shopping 👣😱; for dancing to Kfm Dansdag; for a chat to Jenny Stephens and Stuart Bailey; for seeing how beautiful the new Firefly Café in Camps Bay will be when it opens next week, with planters done today; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 42 of Level 3, 12 July 2020.

Sunday 12 July 2020, Day 42 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful sunny day, but a slight chill in the wind, the wind strength picking up this afternoon, bringing us another cold front for the next two days; for missing out on Loadshedding today, what luck; for having a Sunday Breakfast with Lorraine Adam, who did the Tourist Guiding course with me, the first time we have seen each other since Lockdown; for a most ginormous and generous Sunday Carvery lunch at Quentin at Oakhurst Barn (Photograph), with Soren and the lovely Melanie Davidow; for dancing to my playlist tonight to get to my Step goal; for having dropped down further in my Resting Heart Rate, now at 54 beats per minute; for another fabulous concert by Daniel Hope of Hope @ Home on Tour, half classic, half modern, an extended one hour one, streamed from Lübeck again; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

We had the Breakfast inside, due to the windchill, a first. A smaller and less extravagant breakfast compared to the larger ones I’ve hosted on the terrace in the past.

Boy what a table conversation we had at Quentin’s over lunch, not repeatable here. 😱😂. Lovely to see Andrew Cairns and his family there, who had seen my write up earlier this week after our dinner on Wednesday, and booked for Sunday lunch with his family. An amazing three-course lunch, excellent value at R295.

Restaurants have been dealt a double blow in President Ramaphosa’s Speech this evening:

The President’s Speech: Level 3 retained, Alcohol Sales ban and Curfew announced as of Monday 13 July 2020, a further blow for the Restaurant industry!

SA Corona Status 276 242 cases 4079 deaths 😷😢

FitBit 10000 steps 7 km 👣

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
