Matt’s Homespun opens second restaurant, at The Andros Boutique Hotel in Claremont

 

I have the highest regard for Chef Matt Schreuder of Homespun in Blouberg, for the creativity of his world class Secret Supper Club in particular, and his Tasting Menus which are of a Top 10 Restaurant standard.

Ahead of the official opening on Friday 18 June, I was invited to a ‘friends and family’ preview of Chef Matt’s new Homespun at The Andros 5 star Boutique Hotel in Claremont on Saturday evening. It was my first visit to the Hotel.  The Hotel has an old-world charm and dates back to 1908. It was designed by renowned Sir Herbert Baker.  It has 15 rooms. Parking is available on the propperty. On Tuesday I heard about Chef Matt Schreuder opening his second restaurant, at the luxury The Andros Boutique Hotel.  When I ate at Homespun by Matt in Blouberg one and a half years ago, I predicted that this restaurant was destined for great things, it being one of my best fine-dining eating experiences in our country. Homespun by Matt offers electrifying Tasting Menu, Fun Dining Fine Dining at excellent value!

 

Three weeks ago I was privileged to experience the new Homespun by Matt Secret Supper Club, which is offered on Monday nights, a dinner of 15 courses which I was blown away by, it being of an international standard, making Homespun one of our country’s top restaurants. Last week I returned  with my friend Stuart Bailey, to experience the 7-course Tasting Menu which is served from Tuesday to Saturday evenings, finding it to be a dinner at an extremely generous cost, and to be another evening of Fun Dining Fine Dining.

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another sunny day, but a little cooler at 19C; for another lucky day this week; for a busy writing day, only finishing my Blogpost this afternoon, exceeding 2000 words; for a midday breakfast with friend Jenny Stephens at Firefly Café, and returning the borrowed potato peeler to Tindlovu; for a second walk, to Bakoven, extending the walk further than usual, past the last block of apartments, where someone told me that a fence is badly broken, looking like the result of a car accident; for being spoilt with a massive Christmas-come-early delivery from Mynhardt Restaurant in Paarl ; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
