Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a lovely day, sunny and warm at 21C, and for feeling far more relaxed and less anxious; for a fabulous 6,5 hour continuous sleep; for being ahead of my schedule in getting my work done this morning, so much so that Stuart Bailey came to pop in, so that I could bounce the Maintenance quotation off him; for giving Sandak-Lewin stick about their inefficiency and unprofessionalism; for a meeting postponed to tomorrow giving me an hour tea time at Peppertree Café, catching up on calls and messages; for a productive meeting with my lawyer about the Maintenance quote, feeling much less stressed now; for a Camps Bay walk to Woolies at lunchtime, and a sunset one to Bakoven, with the most wonderful sunset colours; for welcoming Nicola Jowell to Camps Bay Continue reading →

Wednesday 19 August 2020, Day 2 of Level 2, Day 146 of Lockdown. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for the most beautiful sunny day, with only a slight chill when a cloud got in the way, at 15C; for the funnest lunch at Tintswalo Atlantic and its brand new Tintswalo Kitchen, headed by Executive Chef Sean Klette and his team, some from the former The Shortmarket Club, with Gary Peterson ; for the funniest visit to Woolies Camps Bay, where I had to speak for a Jerusalem video and then dance with two of their staff …. 😂; for a quick visit to Law Enforcement Officer Ivor Ramsay, getting back just as Gary arrived; for the super punctual delivery of cat litter and cat food by Takealot, a day ahead of schedule; FOR MY HERMANUS HOUSE SALE SIGNED AND SEALED after 5,5 years ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ #Hallelujah, and a huge thank you once again to Johan Prins for being the matchmaker, having met him on my Tourist Guiding course, to which Gary and I drank a toast; for a quick walk through Bakoven and dancing to Kfm 👣💃 when I got back home; for receiving three Discovery Gameboard plays with a total of 830 Miles, my best score ever 😱; for receiving a job offer today, what an exciting day ❤️; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 42 of Level 3, 12 July 2020.

 

Sunday 12 July 2020, Day 42 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful sunny day, but a slight chill in the wind, the wind strength picking up this afternoon, bringing us another cold front for the next two days; for missing out on Loadshedding today, what luck; for having a Sunday Breakfast with Lorraine Adam, who did the Tourist Guiding course with me, the first time we have seen each other since Lockdown; for a most ginormous and generous Sunday Carvery lunch at Quentin at Oakhurst Barn (Photograph), with Soren and the lovely Melanie Davidow; for dancing to my playlist tonight to get to my Step goal; for having dropped down further in my Resting Heart Rate, now at 54 beats per minute; for another fabulous concert by Daniel Hope of Hope @ Home on Tour, half classic, half modern, an extended one hour one, streamed from Lübeck again; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

We had the Breakfast inside, due to the windchill, a first. A smaller and less extravagant breakfast compared to the larger ones I’ve hosted on the terrace in the past.

Boy what a table conversation we had at Quentin’s over lunch, not repeatable here. 😱😂. Lovely to see Andrew Cairns and his family there, who had seen my write up earlier this week after our dinner on Wednesday, and booked for Sunday lunch with his family. An amazing three-course lunch, excellent value at R295.

Restaurants have been dealt a double blow in President Ramaphosa’s Speech this evening:

The President’s Speech: Level 3 retained, Alcohol Sales ban and Curfew announced as of Monday 13 July 2020, a further blow for the Restaurant industry!

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
