Wednesday 19 August 2020, Day 2 of Level 2, Day 146 of Lockdown. 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for the most beautiful sunny day, with only a slight chill when a cloud got in the way, at 15C; for the funnest lunch at Tintswalo Atlantic and its brand new Tintswalo Kitchen, headed by Executive Chef Sean Klette and his team, some from the former The Shortmarket Club, with Gary Peterson ; for the funniest visit to Woolies Camps Bay, where I had to speak for a Jerusalem video and then dance with two of their staff …. 😂; for a quick visit to Law Enforcement Officer Ivor Ramsay, getting back just as Gary arrived; for the super punctual delivery of cat litter and cat food by Takealot, a day ahead of schedule; FOR MY HERMANUS HOUSE SALE SIGNED AND SEALED after 5,5 years ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ #Hallelujah, and a huge thank you once again to Johan Prins for being the matchmaker, having met him on my Tourist Guiding course, to which Gary and I drank a toast; for a quick walk through Bakoven and dancing to Kfm 👣💃 when I got back home; for receiving three Discovery Gameboard plays with a total of 830 Miles, my best score ever 😱; for receiving a job offer today, what an exciting day ❤️; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
My day was busy and well-planned, getting to Woolworths Camps Bay, having to say ‘Woolworths Camps Bay, we are in it together’ and then I did a dance in the store 💃💃💃, which will go into the video of the staff dancing the Jerusalem dance, going onto YouTube.
I received an unpleasant call from the detective at the Camps Bay police station this morning, basically telling me to drop the case as it would waste my time and his, even when I told him that it’s not a waste of my time. I sought advice from Officer Ramsay, such a friendly home for us Camps Bay locals. 🙏
Gary and I met via Bobby Graham, now living in Canberra, about eighteen months ago, and have chatted mainly via Facebook. We share many similar interests, and we couldn’t stop talking. He knows far tooo much about me, and as he couldn’t keep up with all my ex’s of the past four years, I gifted him a copy of my SwitchBitch Book 3. 😂😊
We popped in at Delish in Hout Bay, one of the restaurants in my Lockdown Restaurant Facebook Group. Unfortunately Michele Muller Verhave wasn’t there, but her daughter Emma showed us around. They have an interesting large COVID plastic screen between two tables in the dining room. They serve breakfast and lunch.
Our visit to Tintswalo was fabulous and an absolute treat, as always, always seeing changes after each event, now as a result of Covid. They have created a brand new in-house Guest Lounge at the far end of the property, near the pool, and their first Spa room. We saw a redecorated room with a Greek Island theme, to which Gary’s blue striped shirt was perfectly suited. They have created a brand new restaurant, called Tintswalo Kitchen, with a team of mostly new chefs. Locals are encouraged to enjoy the new Tintswalo restaurant, it often having been difficult to book a table there in the past. GM Melissa du Rand showed us around, and is the perfect bubbly hostess, coming to check on our table regularly, taking photographs, organizing drinks for us, and bringing a blanket when it became a bit chilly. Nothing is too much trouble, including setting up a dining table for us on the terrace with the most magnificent view, and right at the water’s edge. We were served a Mango Mocktail as a welcome drink. We toasted the sale of the Hermanus house with a glass of Hout Bay Vineyards sparkling wine, whilst we were checking the extensive menu, beautifully framed, each of us choosing five Small Plate dishes – not small at all – our tastes being so similar that three of our five choices were the same. The dishes exude simplicity in consisting of only a few ingredients each, all beautifully presented. Executive Chef Sean Klette came to greet us, and answered our questions. We spent a good four hours lunching, indulging in not having to rush back to anything. What a fabulous afternoon. ❤️❤️❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, and lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
