The Sweet Service Award goes to Camps Bay Hardware and its owner Jared Stein, for organising the delivery of a cellphone charging cable from his holiday in Mauritius, as his store was closed for a week to give his staff a break. He organised everything personally, a demonstration of his service excellence, especially to Camps Bay residents. Continue reading →

Sweet Service Award goes to Hope @ Home; Sour Service Award goes to Discovery!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Hope @ Home, organised by and performed at the Berlin home of violonist Daniel Hope, who entertained music lovers from around the world with classical music, swing music, and more genres, in performing with established musicians as well as new up-and-coming artists, broadcast by arteTV and streamed live, a weekend highlight initially, and a daily one in a second series. Daniel must be the busiest musician in the world, in making music and managing concerts and orchestras, writing books, broadcasting, recording music, and creating publicity for all of his endeavours in conventional media as well as in Social Media.  What made the concerts so special for me is that Daniel was born in Durban, and that his father used to live in Johannesburg,  Christopher Hope being an esteemed writer. Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for lots of rain ☔️, not one break in the rain all day, and more to come overnight, luckily not as cold as earlier this week; for two Discovery Vitality Gameboard plays, giving me 360 Miles; for working in my warm bed this morning; for walking half my steps in the garage, as there was no break for a walk; for an adrenaline-charged day, communicating with Premier Alan Winde, the surprisingly efficient Accounts Department of Sandak-Lewin, and with Nu-Line lift company; for dancing the rest of my steps to Kfm; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Wednesday 8 July 2020, Day 38 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a most wonderful day, all the way through, with much storytelling; for amazing weather at 21C, and even warmer at 23C as I drove home now from Hout Bay, with a strong Bergwind before tomorrow’s downpour; for a tightly scheduled morning, my writing followed by a quick walk through Camps Bay and the purchase of cat treats at Absolute Pets; for buying more plants and seeds at LandsCape Art Garden Centre, including carrots, peas, and radish, getting brave now; for meeting Jenny Stephens and her friend Linda French, taking a Waterfront Granger Bay walk with coffee/tea at The Grand on the Beach; a wonderful hour and a bit in the sun, laughing at each other’s stories and each of us learning from another; my visit to the dentist being a good thing, despite no more toothache, the X-ray showing a serious abscess, which had to be taken care off, and the tooth ultimately needing a crown; for a fabulous sunset; for a good Discovery Vitality Gameboard play; for the most enjoyable, fun, funny, mouthwatering dinner with my Danish friends and Melanie Davidow at Quentin at Oakhurst Barn in Hout Bay, my first visit here, leaving for home after midnight; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
