Thursday 24 February 2022, Day 147 of Level 1 😷
Corona Lockdown Gratitude 🙏
#grateful for a well-organized busy day; for four hours of writing and working this morning, preparing for two Status meetings; for Status meetings at Utopia, a shorter meeting than usual; for a beautiful hot day at 27C, with the South Easter picking up this afternoon, a very dramatic table cloth of cloud on Table Mountain; for fetching my German tourist guiding client Grischa Baumeister at the Park Inn, walking through Bo-Kaap, one of his requests, then showing him Cape Town from above at Utopia, then driving to Signal Hill to show him the Atlantic Seaboard from above, and to the Waterfront to show him the four Nobel Peace Prize winners, and taking him to Gibson’s where George Sax was performing; for Good Hope ‘Cape Town After Dark’ presenter Ute Hermanus having dinner at Gibson’s with her cousin; for dropping Grischa off at his hotel; and for getting home safe and sound.🙏💙
I decided to drop Mellins off the list of optometrists to make my new specs. That left me with Coppez in Sea Point and Riaan King in Camps Bay. The latter’s price kept increasing and exceeded Coppez’s price. The latter optometrist can only see me in a week, whereas I was squeezed in at Coppez for tomorrow. Despite the script having been written by the Opthalmologist, an optometrist has to check the script before the specs are made. 😱😱😱
I met Maureen Summerfield at Gibson’s this evening – I’ve seen her posting comments in the Good Bad and Nasty Restaurant Facebook Group for years. She loves wearing pearls too. Her son Charlie sings with George Sax at Gibson’s on Thursdays. #smallworld
I took photographs of some of the Gibson’s diners this evening. Provia and Olens recognized me from also having been in Bo-Kaap this afternoon, and Provia speaks fluent German, having attended school near Frankfurt and worked in Hamburg. #verysmallworld 🌹🌹🌹
What a lovely day. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December, extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July, returned to Level 3 on 26 July, returned to Level 2 on 13 September, returned to Level 1 on 1 October, and the Curfew Curfew lifted on 30 December 2021 is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
