Wednesday 2 March 2022, Day 153 of Level 1 😷

Corona Lockdown Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a Wednesday with a difference; for feeling right as rain again this morning, getting a little more sleep than in the past week; for rain this morning; for getting my work done calmly and efficiently, despite a little explosion Camps Bay related; for the excellent news that Rhode Snyman our very non-efficient ‘Chairman’ of EbbTide is selling her apartment – hallelujah – illegally having a For Sale sign erected on Body Corporate property; for preparing for the status meetings this morning; for bravely sticking my neck out in asking Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis on Facebook why no buildings are lit up in support of Ukraine, loving the news this afternoon that it is lit up as a once-off this evening, having to go to the City Hall to photograph this occasion, and bumping into Councillor Ian McMahon there; for my 2022 Discovery Health Check done at DisChem in Sea Point, having to move the client meeting an hour later, but still arriving at the meeting 20 minutes late, as someone had fallen on Regent Road, requiring assistance from the nursing staff of the DisChem clinic, very well attended to by Anati; for a fun newkings status meeting, so much to laugh about; for trying the brand new 5 course Zest Summer Tasting Menu, which was launched today, delicious, and washed down with a glass of Saronsberg Shiraz, and well looked after by Josie Milner, so happy to see the restaurant so full; for bumping into Wellington school friend Neville Gafen in Sea Point, visiting from Sydney, planning a mini reunion; for a call from a referred Tourist Guiding client; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙

My Blogpost today was the March update of my Restaurant opening and closure list, a number of top new restaurants set to open just before Winter.

March 2022 update: New Restaurants open in Cape Town and Winelands on the eve of winter!

It’s the first time that I’ve done the Health Check 65 Plus, taking much longer than the incorrect one Clicks did with me three months ago. They tested my hearing (very good) of 23 sets of three numbers with a recording of background noise, that became louder and louder, one having to strain to hear some of the numbers. Then an eye test, having to indicate the direction of the letter E, my right eye perfect but my left eye not, despite my op. 😱 Then the funniest Falling Test, to check how stable I am on my feet, having to stand with my feet apart, then close together, then balance on one leg at a time, and then do a cross chest dance, having to get in and out of a chair with my arms crossed…. We measured my blood pressure four times, sitting up and lying down, it coming down but not perfect at the top end as far as Discovery guidelines go. My total Health Check score was 5000 points out of potential 22500, so not impressed with myself. My results were definitely better than the one I did with Clicks three months ago. Discovery certainly moves the goal posts year on year. 😱😱😱😱

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July,  returned to Level 3 on 26 July, returned to Level 2 on 13 September, returned to Level 1 on 1 October,  and the Curfew Curfew lifted on 30 December 2021 is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
