Saturday 5 September 2020, Day 19 of Level 2, Day 163 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a loooong sleep, over 8 hours long; for only one Loadshedding today, already done this morning, sleeping through the first half, and then walking the second half of it; for having a strawberry milkshake at the brand new Firefly Café, as they currently only stock Rooibos Tea, so I connected them to Dilmah (my favorite) via Instagram; for a second walk, through Bakoven; for a light drizzle most of the day, not stopping me from going outside; for not being sent to bed in the dark by Eskom at 20h00, as has happened twice in the past three days; for completing my steps of the day to Kfm; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

I did a little kitchen clean, and then hit the road, not much litter to pick up today. I saw Michael Shange, the begging ‘cleaner’, who has stopped his verbal abuse when he sees me. 🙏 Yesterday the hairdresser Angelique came running across the road to me, saying she thinks I know and can organise everything in Camps Bay 😱, asking for help with the same Michael, harassing her too. I referred her to the lovely Law Enforcement Officer Ivor Ramsay.

Tindlovu Restaurant reopened yesterday, now all Camps Bay restaurants are open again. Camps Bay lost two restaurants to the Corona Virus.

The tea supplier to Firefly didn’t deliver their tea order on Friday, and hence they only had Rooibos. They are only selling beverages and croissants 🥐 until Tuesday, and open for food on Wednesday. There was a lovely buzz, two guys playing backgammon, and most tables seated. The beverage lady came by regularly to check on me, and helped me to connect to the Wifi. They will offer Vegan dishes, but also Burgers, delicious sounding butternut pancakes and flapjacks too, and more. The Chef is Melissa Laing, previously of Chef Luke Dale Roberts’ Salsify at the Roundhouse. She is still working on her menu.

SA Corona Status: 636 884 cases 14770 deaths 😷😢

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, and lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
