Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 23, 18 April 2020.

Saturday 18 April 2020, Day 34 of SA Corona Virus, Day 23 of SA Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a fabulous hot sunny day, at 29 C; for being able to walk to the shops, seeing the Egyptian Geese babies having a swim in the stream at the Tidal Pool, loving not being disturbed by picnickers, I’m sure; for completing the paperwork for Discovery Insure for my car, my saving being R1300 per month from May, the most patient I have ever been with a Call Centre call, taking over an hour; for good service again from Woolies, having found maize kernels for essential popcorn 🍿 for me; for the Vit D intake on the terrace this afternoon; for long calls with Jenny Stephens and Stuart Bailey; for a visit by KitKat aka Charlie 🐱; for dancing to Kfm 💃; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

My car insurance quote came in even lower than I was told two days ago, but it meant that we had to start from the beginning. The call centre person spoke clearly and I was well prepared, it being a complicated process, with a number of rules and regulations. Irritating was that it took so long, everything having to be explained and recorded verbally, but then they send it all by email anyway. We will do my Hermanus house insurance on Monday, Discovery also being cheaper than my current insurer. 🙏

I dropped off the cotton scarves which Petra Renate Quinlan will transform into masks; popped in at Continental Deli, not having been there in ages, and I was surprised that they are still selling pies and other cooked food, despite all retail outlets having stopped selling these. I am amazed at the angry reaction to this ‘regulation’, not specified in the regulations, it is argued.

I’m looking forward to the Global Citizen concert with international artists this evening, organized by Lady Gaga, part of the proceeds going to the World Health Organisation. 🎶🎵 Proud to see the performance by our local Über-DJ Black Coffee. And to see my favorite Sofi Tukker, singing a sing very different to their current hit ‘Purple Hat’. An amazing feat, putting this all together, with over 100000 views.

SA Corona Status: 3034 cases 52 deaths 😷😢

The Corona Virus Lockdown, announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, and subsequently extended to 30 April, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
