Wednesday 3 June 2020, Day 3 of Level 3, after 66 days of Level 4 and 5. 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a surprisingly warm start to the day, despite it being very misty, when I left home to exercise at 7h30, the cyclists having their lights on, getting up to Clifton First Beach; with fewer bags on the pavements and fortunately none torn open; for the rain falling overnight; for the generosity of Margit and Chris Roberts, residents of Camps Bay, for making a further contribution to Camps Bay Clean, which I collected from their home after the walk; for the Pick n Pay Manager finding me a box of Smarties at another store and having it collected, so that I can collect it from them tomorrow (stockpiling Gary Peterson… 😂); for not having writing pressure this morning as I had written the story about the Court finding the Level 3 and Level 4 regulations to be ‘unconstitutional and invalid’ last night already, for revisiting Dinkel Bakery and Peppertree Café, each sending me a message today that their free-range eggs and lemon chiffon cake, respectively, had arrived; for experiencing the professional Covid service of a security officer at a building of law firms on Keerom Street, having my temperature taken, at 35C, when I went to collect a file; for getting to my laundry service with my laundry of 66 days, and being able to receive it back tomorrow; for an ice cream treat at The Dairy Den in Sea Point, it having been on top of my list of places to go when it reopened; for having a spoil dinner of Lamb curry with yellow rice and sambals as well as Malva Tart delivered to my home by Café Charles in De Waterkant 🙏; and for being fit and healthy. 🙏💙
It was a bad FitBit day, no heart beat registering at all, despite my feet being able to move and my steps registered… 😂
I love the early morning walking, mist probably being a daily part of it now in winter. There are very few persons exercising so early, which gives us more space on the pavements.
More and more restaurants are joining the Restaurant Food Delivery & Collection Group. This means morning admin to update the list. And wine estates are being added too. I was chuffed that a well-known winemaker asked me to see him about marketing his wine estate post Covid-19. An interesting challenge.
I felt very safe at all the outlets and businesses I visited today, being the only person there at almost each of them. People really are staying at home or are at work. 😷
It was warmer today and the sun came out this afternoon, meaning no Winter Blues today. I’m very grateful for all the support which I received yesterday, when I felt so low.❤️
I still cannot believe how short people’s fuses are on Facebook. I got into an unwanted wrangle with a Tara about I not standing in any liquor queue anytime soon, as I still have more than enough alcohol, which she reduced to my ‘White privilege’ of not having to queue! She is an ex member of the Food Delivery Group now, having gone on and on.
I finished the afternoon off with a walk to Bakoven, the ocean being very boisterous, perfect for surfing it seemed. And I was surprised to see someone swimming. 😱
CAFÉ CHARLES ONLINE, De Waterkant.
Justine offered to send me the Lamb Curry of Café Charles in De Waterkant for dinner this
evening. Driver Gary from the restaurant dropped off the neat branded package at my door, and it was a surprise packet in terms of its contents: Lamb curry, yellow rice, sambals of onion and tomato, chili sauce, and chutney. And a Malva Tart to end off the meal. 😱💙
Ten out of ten for its presentation: neat, well-branded, a personal message, a menu, and each of the containers decorated with bay leaves. 👏👏👏
And the lamb curry was superb, not too hot in taste, suiting me perfectly. With yellow rice and sambals, and the Malva Tart. Boy, a feast. Perfectly paired with a glass of my Vinologist Syrah 2018. 🍷
Café Charles is a Deli too, selling free-range eggs, beef biltong by Frankie Fenner, pickled vegetables, raw honey, homemade granola, chocolate, and more. Delivery and Collection, with Alcohol, service offered.
Thank you to you and your team Justine Bee. 👏👏👏💙💙💙

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
