Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a late sleep-in, after getting to sleep at 2h00 this morning, having to Instagram last night’s Homespun dinner; for a more peaceful day at the apartment block, despite some drilling and hammering to repair our electric fence; for a day of interviews about restaurants; for a long walk to Clifton, appropriately rewarded by Discovery, with 200 points, bumping into my nephew Nick Solomon and his fiancé Lauren on the way; for a lovely warm 23 C day; for finding Minsky in a downstairs room, locked in by mistake, an hour of panic when I couldn’t find her 😻; and for being happy and healthy 🙏😊.

I completed answers to questions sent to me by Daily Maverick Freelance Writer Elna Schütz about Dark Kitchens, a topic I learnt about during Lockdown, and wrote a Blogpost about.

I spent two hours with Tao Varty, son of wildlife film producer John Varty and TV presenter Gillian van Houten, going back many years. Tao is doing a BA in Journalism at UCT, and chose the topic of Restaurants, and how they have been affected by the Lockdown, for a third year project. I should have recorded my answers, we covered so much ground.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
