The Sweet Service Award goes to Woolworths Camps Bay, and to its former Store Manager Gary Arendse, who headed up the branch for just over two years, and sadly has been moved to the Piazza da Luz Branch in Sea Point. From the messages members of the community posted in his honour in reaction to a Facebook post, and from my own experience, Gary was the perfect Manager, always professional, friendly, connecting with customers, knowing our names, keeping products for me when I could not get to the shop immediately, sourcing products not stocked in this small branch from other stores, walking the extra mile, and even the odd bunch of flowers on a special day. A highlight was participating in the store’s Jerusalema video, which won second prize in a national Woolworths store competition last year. Being in Sea Point more regularly, I am happy that I’ll still be able to interact with Gary.
The Sour Service Award goes to TakeaLot online ordering service which I trust, had never had a problem with, nor experienced any error or any other issue in the past. A week ago I ordered a number of cat food items as I do regularly, and placed the order. On the same day I realised that Id forgotten to add a cat carrier, which costs below the free Delivery Level. I tried to call in with this request, but no telephonic contact details are available. I found a written enquiry form and requested that both orders be delivered as one. It took a day to receive a reply, with a categoric NO, reflecting complete inflexibility!
