Sunday 11 October 2020, Day 21 of Level 1, Day 199 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful 22C day, just perfect; for a relaxed peaceful day; for the spontaneous decision to head out to Hout Bay, and to Delish specifically, seeing their Sunday Special of Duck, my absolute favorite, and lucky to get a table at such short notice; for meeting Michelle Verhave Müller, owning the restaurant with her daughter Chef Amber, connecting with Michelle immediately, intrigued by her maiden name and the link, if any, to the late father of my Alex; for a walk through Hout Bay, not having done so in more than a year; for visiting the newish Deus ex Machina in the Kronendal building and former home of Kitima, what a culture clash 😱; for a walk up to the Camps Bay Tidal Pool, with a lot of litter to pick up there; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a sunny day, slightly cooler at 19C; for a long deep sleep; for receiving another delivery of ingredients for the B-Well online cooking with Chef Jennifer Morris, which turned out to be great fun, doing it alone for the first time, missing my MasterChick Jenny Stephens; for a walk to Camps Bay this afternoon, meeting with Marius Blanc and Zahrah of The 41, to discuss our next Camps Bay Beach Clean Up ón 31 October; for being able to borrow a potato peeler which I don’t own, doing so little cooking, least of all of potatoes, from Chris Papayannes at Tindlovu, as Pick n Pay does not sell them; for dancing the rest of my steps to Kfm 💃; for receiving two Discovery Gameboard plays and 360 Miles; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 😷

#Grateful for another fabulous day in this magic week; for the lovely weather today, sunny at 22C with no wind; for recovering from a busy weekend and yesterday; for a peaceful walk through Camps Bay, being able to rescue a Woolworths trolley near the beach, and through Bakoven late this afternoon, both refreshing and energizing; for one of the Ghanaian renters having checked out of our building today, the other noisy one still here 😱; for a lovely chat with Bubeka of Absolute Pets when I went to buy some cat treats; for a possibility of a freelance job which just came to me, not having applied for it, combining my German and a past career; for the kindest invitation to a lunch next week; for dancing to Dansdag on Kfm; for receiving a box of ingredients from B-Well for an online cooking show Chef Jennifer Morris is doing tomorrow; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 14 of Level 1, 4 October 2020.

 

Sunday 4 October 2020, Day 14 of Level 1, Day 192 of Lockdown. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a wonderful day all round, the weather superb, my first Lockdown brunch, and my first dancing at La Parada Constantia Nek since the beginning of Lockdown; for the City of Cape Town coming to collect the broken glass this morning just as I went for a walk, happy that I could express my thanks to the staff personally; for fetching croissants from Maison J, having pre-ordered them; for feeling far safer in Camps Bay today, with 10 Law Enforcement Officers, two traffic police cars, and a Metro Police car proactively present in Camps Bay; for a wonderful Heritage Brunch at my home, lasting six hours, the second longest one ever; for the happiness of going back to La Parada Constantia Nek, seeing so many people from the pre-Lockdown dance nights there, yet it was so different, with minimal dance space, but the highlight was The Kiffness playing; for surviving a taxi overtaking me in a curve of the road and scraping my car on my way home, but not seeing any damage to my car (yet); and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
