Tuesday 6 October 2020, Day 16 of Level 1, Day 194 of Lockdown 😷
Corona Gratitude 😷
#Grateful for another fabulous day in this magic week; for the lovely weather today, sunny at 22C with no wind; for recovering from a busy weekend and yesterday; for a peaceful walk through Camps Bay, being able to rescue a Woolworths trolley near the beach, and through Bakoven late this afternoon, both refreshing and energizing; for one of the Ghanaian renters having checked out of our building today, the other noisy one still here 😱; for a lovely chat with Bubeka of Absolute Pets when I went to buy some cat treats; for a possibility of a freelance job which just came to me, not having applied for it, combining my German and a past career; for the kindest invitation to a lunch next week; for dancing to Dansdag on Kfm; for receiving a box of ingredients from B-Well for an online cooking show Chef Jennifer Morris is doing tomorrow; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
I only slept for 4 hours last night, getting home just before midnight and having to still do my Facebook post. When I woke this morning, I wrote my Blogpost about the damage the confusing International Tourism rules and regulations are causing our industry. And then I went back to bed for more sleep, feeling far better when I got up at lunchtime. I had some thank you messages and calls to make relating to yesterday’s spoiling, including to Prim Reddy Chapter

Confusing Covid and Visa regulations damage International Tourism to South Africa!
I had one annoyance today, when a friend shared info about a community security company in Camps Bay introducing its own Car Guard and Litter Cleaning service, of course asking residents for financial support. I know the head of the company, and had turned my attitude to the news around in asking him if I can assist with the organisation of the Cleaning in any way, finding this to be a more positive karmic approach.
This amazing kind and generous message arrived in Messenger from Michelle Fioroni
we are Facebook Friends but haven’t met) yesterday, referring to Brian Van Hansen Florence Poretti and I, and a Johannesburg person:
‘Lockdown has been such a pivotal time in our lives and it meant a lot of us were thrown into experiences that we would not usually have had the time to enjoy or share. Lockdown for me was truly spectacular as so many of you brought your exciting gifts of knowledge, food, photography or laughter to the FB platform and allowed so many others to live vicariously through you or simply be inspired by you.
Those of you who stood out for me were: Brian for your amazing photography, Florence for your photography and beautiful walks, Chris for spreading the local news and Ilze in Joburg for many fine words of wisdom.
I would love it if you would come and have lunch r and crush a glass of wine or two! Is there someone who did the same for you and you’d love to meet them if just to say thank you, let’s do it!
Michelle’
I spent the rest of the afternoon Instagramming the photographs of the amazing Homespun by Matt dinner in Blouberg last night. It is a Secret Supper Club Tasting Menu of 15 courses, each having a clever title, two dishes jointly paired per wine, and then something I’ve never experienced before, paired with a song, as well as matching sound effects (eg the ocean, birdsong, a Braai Fire) played by a DJ in the restaurant! The energy, enthusiasm, fun, creativity, passion, quality, and dedication of Chefs Matt and Chris and the superb quality of the waiters and Sommelier Flora Jost I experienced there last night was magical, magic being a key word to describe the overall experience. It is a wow, and highly recommended. I’m posting some more of the pics of last night. The detailed description of each dish will be in my Blogpost later this week.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
