The Sweet Service Award goes to Harck & Heart, a company baking and selling gingerbread biscuits, Christmas tree ornaments, and Gingerbread house kits, for their easy online ordering system, and for their delivery on the day that I chose, with a follow-up email to confirm the delivery. With the country at Level 1 for over a month, the restaurant tide is turning, with business in the restaurant industry improving. The impact of SA being placed on the travel ban list has already been felt, with booking cancellations.
For the first time in a number of months new restaurants are opening in Cape Town and the Winelands, including Rykaarts Stellenbosch, MiCaffé in Bree Street with more restaurants about to open in The Barracks, a most disappointing Shoreditch House restaurant at The Winchester Hotel, and in Camps Bay Beach House, Gibson’s Gourmet Burgers & Ribs Food Truck, Marcel’s Frozen Yoghurt, The Pottery, and Cause & Effect have opened, with Bo-Vine opening shortly. Ten days ago Restaurateur and Camps Bay resident Ian Halfon, co-owner of the Slick Group, opened a Gibson’s Gourmet Burgers Summer pop-up Food Truck inside the parking area of the Bay Hotel in Camps Bay, not only selling their well-known burgers but also delicious ice creams and milkshakes.
The Gibson’s Food Truck is located in the centre of the Camps Bay Beachfront, clients accessing the ordering hatch via steps leading up to a platform on the Victoria Road pavement. Continue reading →
