Monday 29 June 2020, Day 29 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a day of grey and drizzle, not stepping outside at all in the short little break in the rain, soft and gentle rain, with good news of how the dam levels are rising after all the fabulous rain; for a hardworking writing morning; for getting all the Body Corporate AGM documents printed (what a waste of paper); for half of my step goal done as Garagerobics, the rest dancing to Couchrobics on Kfm; for cat cuddles throughout the day, Minsky just having a short little outside break; for starting to update the Food Delivery and Collection list with Restaurants opening from today, many of these also still doing Delivery and Collection; and for being happy and healthy! 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Lockdown: What will it be like to eat at a SA restaurant from 1 July?

I was challenged to write a speculation of what it would be like to eat at a Restaurant during Lockdown ‘Advanced’ Level 3 for a Sit-Down meal from 1 July, a date predicted for the reopening of South African restaurants.

On Wednesday 17 June President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that Restaurants are to reopen for sit-down dining, having only been allowed to sell Food and Alcohol on a Delivery or Collection basis during Levels 4 and 3 to date. Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another magnificent day…. can we be so lucky to have a week of summer in the middle of winter ?❤️; for walking twice today, at lunchtime up to Clifton Fourth Beach, bumping into Thomas and Haakon again, and a Camps Bay beachfront round at sunset time with Lisa Hayden who lives in Bakoven, with the most stupendous sunset; for having a writing-free morning after writing about President Ramaphosa’s speech last night and posting it then; for Henry getting my apartment alarm fixed after putting in the new battery and reprogramming it; for getting appointments at Sorbet and for my hair as soon as the opening date is announced (1 July probably); for loving how my vegetable garden is flourishing, with the compost we have been adding, tomatoes just growing wild, and the bought beetroot and coriander plants loving all the sun as well as rain; for receiving an invitation to participate in an online cooking show with one of our country’s top chefs…. 😱; for a long Vit D fix on the terrace; for Minsky now knowing her surroundings, and returning back inside without I having to panic; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Tuesday 16 June 2020, Day 16 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4. 😷 (Day 82 of Lockdown)

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for the most amazing Spring-like Public Holiday day today, forecast at 19C but definitely in the mid-20s C, a perfect shorts and short sleeve top day; for the energy to walk to First Beach, with not a single torn garbage bag, and minimal litter 🙏; for bumping into Haakon and Thomas Bauerkämper on the walk, not having seen each other in a while, so we needed a catch-up chat; for Maison J keeping me a croissant 🥐 until after my walk, as they sell out so quickly; for a photo shoot at my home with the Danish Marlena, helping me to rediscover what I have in my wardrobe and as yet unworn, when she looked for specific colour in the clothing I was to wear; for a one-hour tan on my terrace, I could have been on the beach, it felt so good; for Jenny Stephens coming to visit, for a Bakoven walk and a lovely spoil dinner from Pilcrow & Cleaver together, keeping me calm when Minsky went on a major adventure and we couldn’t find her, especially when it got dark, until she just walked back in as if nothing had happened…….. just happy that she returned safely ❤️🐱; for loving this day so much, and how happy everyone seemed; for cat advice from Michele Antelme 🙏; for bumping into KitKat’s dad Barry, both of whom I’ve not seen in three weeks 🐱😢; for receiving a third of my Discovery Insure premium back into my bank account for May, for minimal driving and for good driving behavior; and for feeling happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
