Is it just me, but doesn’t it feel like a superb summer holiday day at 24 C, with swimmers in the Tidal Pool, picnickers coming to the Bakoven beaches at sunset, and one having a good start to the weekend? 😊🌞⭐️

Number of Restaurants open for Sit-Down Service in Cape Town and Winelands grows to over 300!

 

On Monday 30 June restaurants were allowed to reopen for Sit-Down Service, after having only been allowed to offer a Food Delivery service from May, and a Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection Service from June onwards.

Last week I posted a List of Restaurants offering a Sit-Down Service, in addition to the Facebook Group which I created of Restaurants offering Food and Alcohol Delivery and Collection. The List I posted had over 100 restaurants. I have been updating the List, and am posting an update today, with 315 restaurants on the updated List.

The majority of restaurants offering a Sit-Down service will continue offering a Food and Alcohol Delivery and/or Collection Service. Continue reading →

New Restaurant openings in Cape Town and Winelands for 2019/2020 season slow down dramatically: October 2019!

The poor economic conditions in our country currently is manifesting in the very few new restaurants opening for the new summer season, most such new openings usually taking place in September. Where many new restaurants are opening, they are changing the name and concept of existing ones, rather than being brand new, or adding other restaurants in a restaurant group’s portfolio. 

Two exciting top-end restaurant openings are those of Exhibit A (owned by highly acclaimed Chef Rikku O’Donnchü and Chef Warwick King, who left Gåte restaurant earlier this year), opening in the city centre on 1 November; and of La Chêne at Leeu Estates in Franschhoek. Unframed in Cape Town named Best Ice Cream Parlour in the World!

Unframed ice cream shop, with branches on Kloof Street, the Food Market in the Waterfront, and in Woodstock, has been named by Big 7 Travel as the world’s ‘Best Ice Cream Parlour’! It beat 49 other ice cream shops from around the world to win this title, proving yet again that Cape Town is the gourmet capital of our country, as well as of Africa, Unframed being the only ice cream shop in Africa making the list of top 50.
