Sweet Service Award goes to Knead; Sour Service Award goes to Outsurance!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Knead in the Constantia Emporium, and its waitress Olly (Molly without the M she said). Ten days ago I was in this lovely small shopping centre, wanting to shop at its fabulous Checkers store, and walked past Knead, succumbing to one of their hot cross buns displayed on a table outside the door. As I had to spend the day in the Southern Suburbs whilst waiting for my cat receiving treatment at the Peninsula Animal Hospital in Diepriver, I asked whether they have WiFi, as I needed to do my writing work. What a good decision it was, Olly bringing me an endless pot of Earl Grey tea, topped up with further pots of water, and a hot cross bun Continue reading →

Tuesday 30 March 2021, Day 28 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a well organized smooth-flowing day, being away from home from 7h30 – 17h30, taking Earl Grey to be sterilized at the vet in Diepriver; for getting my day’s writing done at Knead at the Constantia Enporium, spoilt by Ollie with pots of tea and a hot cross bun, their Wifi working perfectly; for a fabulous shop at Checkers at the mall, with lovely efficient and friendly cashiers, compared to Sea Point, and good offers and discounts 😱; for an eating drive to Muizenberg, all three my visits disappointing; for a lovely tea and apple tart treat at the home of Rose Klein and Werner, also in Diepriver, from where I fetched Earl Grey, looking good and not having any wounds or bandages, happy to see each other again 😻; for a very quick walk to Camps Bay and back, such good cardio that I earned 300 Discovery points; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Monday 5 October 2020, Day 15 of Level 1, Day 193 of Lockdown. 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for such a fabulous Monday and start to a new week; for being spoilt with two restaurant invitations for today, the reopening day of Yumcious of Chef Jennifer Morris, and at Homespun by Matt in Bloubergstrand; for Henry finding Maya’s Sarong at the bottom of the pool when he cleaned it today; for a lovely weather day after a misty start; for a short sunset walk in Bloubergstrand, my only walk of the day; for a quick catfood shop at Checkers in Sea Point, offering by far the best Whiskas prices compared to Pick n Pay and TakeaLot, but such a pity that the service is so bad; for meeting such nice persons at our joint table at the Secret Supper Club at Homespun by Matt; for getting home safely from Blouberg just before curfew; for there being no damage to my car after last night’s taxi incident; and for being happy and healthy.🙏💙 Continue reading →

Cape Town and Winelands Restaurant Closures slow down, a few have reopened, new restaurants are opening – October 2020.;

Slowly the Lockdown has become the new norm, and there is little reason for Restaurants to not be open and trading, despite the lack of tourists from overseas. The opening of the country’s International borders, albeit only as of 1 October, appears to have had little impact on the Restaurant industry to date.

On my latest Restaurant Closure list I have 73 Restaurants in Cape Town and the Winelands which have closed down, an increase of only 3 Restaurant Closures in the past month. Clarke’s and Dahlia on Regent announced their permanent closure, but have reopened. Continue reading →
