Corona Gratitude ๐Ÿ™

#Grateful for a fabulous day; for it being warm and sunny, at 22C, and not too windy; for preparing for my client meeting this morning, and writing a Blogpost; for walking to Camps Bay to hear George Sax DJ and present his Thursday 3 hour Radio Show from Beach House, the renamed cocktail bar previously called Sunset Sessions, and back under the control of the Bay Hotel, dancing ๐Ÿ’ƒ to his fabulous music ๐ŸŽต; for a very good client meeting, happy for what I have achieved so far in the first 19 days of working with them, and grateful to Jenny Stephens for giving me a pep talk yesterday evening; for a very liquid tasting of Musgrave Spiritsโ€™ Copper Vanilla and Black Honey brandies, tasting at least 8 cocktails that were prepared for us by Mixologist Owen Oโ€™Reilly; for getting home safely despite the volume of tastings ๐Ÿ˜ฑ; and for being happy and healthy. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’™ Continue reading →

Wednesday 15 July 2020, Day 45 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4. ๐Ÿ˜ท

Corona Gratitude ๐Ÿ™

#Grateful for a beautiful sunshine day, with a nippy start, putting a lift into everyoneโ€™s step, and happy that we will have another 7 days of sunshine before the next rain arrives; for getting my writing done in good time; for being spoilt by a lunch invitation at Latitude Cafรฉ in Sea Point, a lovely setting in the 9th floor on the Latitude ApartHotel, connecting with two acquaintances; for donating blood ๐Ÿฉธ, Rita Rodrigues being the nicest staff member there, always a pleasure to give, for being offered tea and biscuits afterwards, and receiving a present; for the amazing generosity of Discovery Vitality today…. not often experienced; for picking up two desserts on the Pilcrow & Cleaver menu this week in town, and meeting owner Chef Judi Fourie, only having messaged each other up to now; for a walk through Camps Bay, no clearing up of storm debris done yet, so Iโ€™ve booked Joel for tomorrow so that we can start with clearing the pavements, so that locals can walk again; for a walk through Bakoven at sunset time; for missing out on Loadshedding today; and for being happy and healthy. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’™ Continue reading →

Saturday 11 July 2020, Day 41 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4. ๐Ÿ˜ท

Corona Gratitude ๐Ÿ™

#Grateful for a mostly sunny day, after the two days of heavy rain, with some cloud about, with lots of ๐Ÿ’™-clouds; for a deep and long sleep, my resting heart rate having dropped to its lowest since I obtained a FitBit, at 55 beats per minute; for Minsky coming back home eventually three times today, clearly being excited about being outside in the sun again and chasing birds, after two days of mostly being inside, not without some heart palpitations for me, when she stayed away so long; for a lovely sunny Camps Bay walk, fetching some Maison J croissants which they had kept for me, and buying another โ€˜lilyโ€™ type plant to fill one garden gap; for some Vit D on the terrace, it being so warm outside, Minsky lying on the lounger alongside mine, loving sleeping in the sun, after all her excitement this morning; for a Bakoven walk, watching a wild ocean; for another wonderful concert by Daniel Hope and his Hope @ Home on Tour, in Lรผbeck this evening, and for it being an extended concert with the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival; and for being happy and healthy. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’™ Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 37 of Level 3, 7 July 2020.

Tuesday 7 July 2020, Day 37 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4.๐Ÿ˜ท

Corona Gratitude ๐Ÿ™

#Grateful for a perfect day, organized and calm, with no stress, as reflected in a three point drop in my resting heart rate since yesterday, to 58 beats per minute; for a productive writing morning; for the plant shopping at Landscape Art Garden Centre as well as Sunset Sessions in Camps Bay, ahead of the big cold front arriving on Thursday; for two walks to Camps Bay, finally seeing Law Enforcement Officer Ivor Ramsay again, who I last saw at the beginning of Lockdown, inviting me into his office for a chat, sharing with him what I see in Camps Bay on my walks – what a lovely man; for bumping into Paul Kovensky, also going for a walk, updating me about the delayed opening of some of his Kove Collection restaurants to after the six-day winter storm from Thursday; for a Pick n Pay shop for my hungry cat family; for lovely weather, sunny and warm, even at 16C today; for a quick chat with my Danish friend Soren, stopping quickly while I was pushing a rescued Pick n Pay trolley back to the store, seeing him for an exciting evening tomorrow ๐Ÿท; for dancing to Dansdag on Kfm ๐Ÿ’ƒ; and for being happy and healthy. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’™

I did a 6 hour sleep in one stretch without painkillers last night, feeling refreshed when I woke up. I had been very busy last night, writing up my notes of the aspects I discussed at the AGM last week, to make sure that the Minutes will be far more comprehensive and correct than they were last year. Getting this off my chest must have brought my heart rate down.

My Blogpost focused on the unprofessional copying of my Restaurant lists out of two Blogposts I posted in the past month, without permission or credit. Good to get that off my chest too.

Cribbing Restaurant lists is not cool, is plagiarism, and is unprofessional!

Henry and I are so excited about our expanding vegetable and herb garden, I buying beetroot, lettuce, rosemary, lavender, thyme, origanum, parsley, cauliflower, and garlic to keep the snakes from next door away ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. Henry has green fingers, so I bought more agapanthus, and he split some existing ones too. He replanted some other existing plants too. We have started making compost, and used the first batch of it to prepare the beds for the new plants. โ˜˜๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒฟ

The service at Landscape Art was fabulous, Luke knowing his plants, and my maturity-discount made it even more of a pleasure to shop there. They have a new coffee shop inside the Garden Centre too. I bought rosemary and some lillies at even more amazing prices at Sunset Sessions in Camps Bay. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
