Friday 17 September 2021, Day 5 of Level 2 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for an action-packed day, but well-timed with one exception; for a sunny warm 21C day but with the South-Easter blowing; for my rolls and also eggs waiting for me at Dinkel Bakery;  for good Anatoli and Utopia Status meetings, the first time we’ve held them in the morning, as the client postponed them to today; for dropping off Chef Prim Reddy Chapter prize of Adhara Extra Virgin olive oil as a 2021 Top 10 Woman Chef at her Indian Chapter restaurant in Blouberg, sadly she not there; for a good status meeting at Harvest Culture Continue reading →

Monday 24 May 2021, Day 85 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a solid 7 hour sleep; a busy day, writing and writing most of the day; for a grey day, rain forecast to roll in tonight; for a lovely refreshing walk through Bakoven, up Houghton Road, and down the 100 Houghton Steps, to stretch from the all-day sitting; blessed with the most amazing sunset, changing in colour as I walked back home; and for being happy, healthy, and free. 🙏💙

My Blogpost was about the fabulous lunch we had at Harvest Culture Eaterie on Saturday.

Harvest Culture Eaterie opens Modern Bistro in Tyger Falls Waterfront, celebrates Earth’s bounty!

My Earl Grey has an excellent nose, a cat gourmet, who loves the smell of my food. I had noticed him often scratching in a kitchen corner, thinking he was scooping up a bit of food in it. Last night I heard him being very active in the kitchen, with little squeals. I went to look, thinking that he had hurt himself. Anything but…. he was playing with a mouse that must have come out of a hole in the corner, and probably lived off the cat food at night. It ended off badly for the mouse, Grey playing with it the whole night through, making him exhausted today, sleeping all day. Henry helped to close the hole and dispose of the poor mouse. 🙀😿 Minsky was completely disinterested in all of this.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.

Harvest Culture Eaterie opens Modern Bistro in Tyger Falls Waterfront, celebrates Earth’s bounty!

In speaking to Homespun Chef Matt Schreuder about his new restaurant opening at The Andros Boutique Hotel next month, he told me that his father, the well-known restaurateur Dale Schreuder known for the Dale’s steakhouses he has owned over the past more than 30 years, has opened a new restaurant with a completely different concept.

Harvest Culture Eaterie is Dale’s tenth restaurant, and describes itself as a ‘modern Bistro’, ‘celebrating Earth’s bounty’ .

Saturday 22 May 2021, Day 83 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for another fabulous day, cannot believe my fabulous luck; for a beautiful sunny day with a slight chill; for fetching another Tourist Guiding certificate, finally available after more than a year; for meeting my newest client Harvest Culture in the Tyger Falls Waterfront, owned by Dale Schreuder, father of Chef Matt of Homespun, who connected the two of us, celebrating our collaboration with a delicious lunch, joined by Chef Matt and his partner Elri; for getting home safely after a massive traffic jam on the N1, due to roadworks with only one lane open; for a refreshing Continue reading →
