Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 42 of Level 1, 11 April 2021

Sunday 11 April 2021, Day 42 of Level 1 đŸ˜·

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a very relaxed and calm day; for getting work finished, addressing a feedback email which needed diplomacy; for having my cats sharing my bed when I write in it, Minsky being lights out after another late night of gallivanting; for a sleep catch up; for a snooze on the terrace on a lovely sunny 23 C day; for a power walk that I didn’t think I’d have the energy for, tackling the 100 steps of Houghton steps, and incorporating the Camps Bay Promenade, very busy, DJs at Mynt, Caprice, The 41 and Tigers Milk trying to compete for the loudest and best music đŸ˜±; for earning 300 Discovery points; for a beautiful sunset; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 32 of Level 1, 1 April 2021

Thursday 1 April 2021, 32 Days of Level 1 đŸ˜·

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Gratitude for a well organized day, using a do-list, ahead of the Easter weekend; for getting my work done in good time ahead of my client meeting; for a good cardio workout on my secret Bakoven walk before I left for town, receiving 300 Discovery points; for putting in petrol, using more than a tank of petrol this past month, fueling up at BP on Regent Road, with Oupa offering excellent service, not deserving this name in his youthful age; for dropping off my Bedlinen at the Laundry next door; for fetching my Dinkel poppyseed rolls; for collecting an order from Lazari in Gardens; for playing Ms Easter Bunny, hopping about town doing deliveries; for an unusual but good client status meeting at Utopia; for being proud of my self-love, in walking out of a tea/coffee meet with my longest standing friend, when she disparaged me and tried to play Taurus mother to me in telling me what to do – one such Taurean mother in a lifetime was enough!đŸ„”; for a royal treat by Chef Judi Fourie of Pilcrow & Cleaver, offering me a glass of Mooiplaas vino, with which I ordered a cheese board, with Brie, figs and unusual cumin shortbread 💙🙏; for a weird relaunch of Infusions on Long, each tapas dish containing cannabis đŸ˜±, for a lovely letting-go walk on the Mouille Point Promenade; for Minsky waiting for me at the door when I got home; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Stellenbosch squeezes most out of its 2015 Wine Festival, poor website!

Stellenbosch Wine FestivalBilled as a three-day event but stretching over a week, the Stellenbosch Wine Festival presented by Pick ‘n Pay draws to a close today, with a feast of events offered.  It is the largest wine festival in the country, and the oldest.  The media blurb proudly brags that the Stellenbosch Wine Festival presents the best of Stellenbosch’s ‘great wine, gourmet food, breathtakingly beautiful nature, and performances by some of South Africa’s most popular musicians‘.

Held at the Coetzenburg Sports Grounds since Friday, 200 wines of 148 wine estates that make up the Stellenbosch Wine Routes are available to taste, creating a ‘virtual wine route‘.  The Pick ‘n Pay Wine Shop will sell Stellenbosch wines to drink at the Festival, to take home, or to ship back to one’s home destination.   Winemakers from Waterford Estate, Spier, Kleine Continue reading →
