Corona Lockdown Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for an organized day, having two hours in which to plan my day, and getting admin duties done; for an interesting Workshop with 40 representatives of 20 sponsors of the Jive Cape Town Funny Festival, which was held at Zest this morning, both Zest and newkings boutique hotel being sponsors of the Festival from 6 June to 3 July, and ended off with a light lunch prepared by Zest chefs; for getting an error fixed made last week by Discovery Sea Point; for finding Kanéle Café inside Continue reading →

YiaYia’s Table a bakery honouring Greek family and passion!

 

I was invited by Kirsten Reynecke to try Yiayia’s Table in Mowbray, and did so in late December with my friend Gary Peterson, visiting the sit-down and delivery Café and Bakery on a Saturday morning.

Yiayia is the Greek word for grandmother, and is a dedication to granny Elli Parolis of the brother and sister owners of Yiayia’s Table, in the same shop in which their grandfather Jimmy ran a butchery and granny Elli had a tea room, both grandparents immigrating to Cape Town from the island of Lesbos. Granny Elli was a passionate cook, and spoilt her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with her traditional Greek cooking and bakery.

#grateful for a beautiful 27C day, with no wind, slightly less manic in Camps Bay than it was yesterday; for getting some client work done; for showing my new CAMPS BAY CLEAN Cleaner Gift Bakoven, and the litter HotSpots, and then sending him off to the Tidal Pool to clean up litter there this afternoon, filling ten Council bags today; for preparing for my 4th Advent celebration and pre-birthday party, so sad that so many of my friends were ill and could not join us, and even more Continue reading →
