Thursday 28 October 2021, Day 28 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for making the best of today, with 5 hours of my working day being affected by Loadshedding, using some of it to catch up on sleep, a walk in Bakoven, and shopping at Ultra (looking very different) and Spar (looks like a mini-Ultra when you walk in); for getting my Dinkel rolls and free range eggs; for doing a large part of my writing after the first Loadshedding this morning, at 2h30 😱; for a good meeting for Utopia and Anatoli, with a spoil of biscuits for tea, I joking with my client that they were to celebrate my first anniversary of working on the Utopia account; for trying out MiCaffé on Bree Street, a Milan-inspired coffee shop and restaurant, enjoying a coffee ice cream, Gary Peterson and I having to call off our meet there today; for German shopping at Hartlief, and then at Pick n Pay and Woolies at the Garden Centre, not affected by Loadshedding; for an article by Shahied Joseph about the Civic Awards in the Atlantic Sun today 🙏; for Utopia named one of the Top 15 Rooftop Bars and Restaurants in Cape Town by The Inside Guide; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙

There was no time to write a Blogpost today, with the three Stage 3 Loadshedding slots 😱.

MiCaffé opened in a newly renovated building now called The Barracks, home to the original barracks in Cape Town, around the corner from the oldest buildings in Cape Town, the Lutheran Church and Martin Melck House. The coffee shop/restaurant is Milan-inspired, and is planning to open in Joburg and Dubai over time.

Sad to hear that another Top 10 restaurant is closing its doors in two weeks : Greenhouse at Cellars Hohenhort, established by Chef Peter Tempelhoff, but no longer involved.

I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
