Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a beautiful sunny day, with a hint of summer, at 20C; for having a second sleep this morning, with my Minsky 🐱 lying next to me; for a calm and peaceful day in all respects; for surviving a wine estate vehicle racing through the newly painted pedestrian crossing in Camps Bay; for surviving being in Sea Point; for meeting the lovely Mark Cromhout, whose photographs I so admire, and always chuffed when he likes one of mine on Instagram, thinking he is a professional photographer (@cromhout_views); for a lovely sunset; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

I wrote a Blogpost about my journey of becoming a Tourist Guide this morning.

‘My Cape Town Guide/Mein Kapstadt Guide’ launched, after qualifying as a Tourist Guide during Lockdown!

I’m still annoyed that the list of restaurants which have closed, copied out of a far longer Blogpost of Monday without my permission, is still doing the rounds with comments, and criticized for containing ‘mistakes’, without the original link having been sent out, for commentators to see it in its full context.

I tried once more to get my FitBit fixed at Sportsman’s Warehouse, Steven more knowledgeable than his colleague I spoke to on Saturday. All with no success. I will have to get it sent to FitBit locally, which could take up to 3 weeks! My heart beat is not being measured at all! 😱

And I collected the laundry. Sea Point was busy, its traffic as bad as it was before Lockdown 😡. How lovely, calm and peaceful Canps Bay is by comparison. ❤️

It is worrying that Pick n Pay is closed again, with another staff member contracting the virus. 😷😷😷

I did a midday walk, feeling strange after my early morning walks for 34 days. I’ll switch back to early morning tomorrow again. I felt as if I had less energy than walking in the fresh mornings. I always try to estimate the mask wearers on my walks. Today it was about 40% wearing them over nose and mouth. It gets less day by day. 😡 So weird to see two couples sitting on the Camps Bay Promenade lawn, the boys without shirts, as if they were on the beach, which they aren’t allowed to, pouring a liquid suspiciously looking like coming out of a wine bottle. A little beach picnic, but on the lawn. And no masks, of course. 😷😱

It gets dark so quickly, and early, at about 18h00.

From Daily Maverick this morning: More than R250 million was spent on alcohol purchases on Monday. And again I saw this quote of mine shared elsewhere, without credit to the publication or to me! 😡

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
