Friday 10 July 2020, Day 40 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for the wonderful rain since yesterday, my pool water level climbing beautifully, and our new plants being very happy for all the water; for the breaks in the rain today, so that I could do a walk through Camps Bay, and twice through Bakoven, not getting wet at all; for the good timing of our Loadshedding, from 16h00; for a morning call with Janet Pillai, and a looong evening one with Jenny Stephens; for a little nap during Loadshedding; for dancing 💃 to Kfm; and for being happy and healthy 🙏💙
I slept for a record of 8,5 hours in one go, and felt wonderful when I got up. I saw a break in the weather, and decided to put all work aside, heading for Camps Bay, and doing a quick shop at Woolies. I saw some homeless persons at a fire 🔥 near a very special building at the ex Kiddies pool, so went to visit my Law Enforcement friend Ivor Ramsay to report it to him. He is always welcoming, and invites me into his office. I couldn’t stay long, as the next rain wave was on its way.
Friday is Sweet & Sour Service Awards Day, which went to BP and McQueens, respectively. Service is improving so much during Lockdown, that it is hard to find a Sour Service Award recipient sometimes. Next week’s is already sorted, Discovery Insure claims department agent Solly being most frustrating to deal with when I reported the Hermanus house wind damage to him today. We were both on speaker phone, and he admitted that he works from home. The line kept coming and going, and most of the time I couldn’t understand him. I couldn’t get a reference number as their system was down, but I was promised it by sms. I’m still waiting. 😱🥵
Sweet Service Award goes to BP President in Sea Point; Sour Service Award goes to McQueens!
I called ADT for a copy of the contract our Apartment Block has with the security company for a panic service, and was put through the hoops to get a copy. 🥵
I did two more walks in almost sunny weather in Bakoven this afternoon. There were hardly any other walkers or exercisers about.
The rain kept poor Minsky inside a lot, but she was let outside as soon as it stopped raining. She is so good in coming inside when I call her.
Now the fireworks start: the first lightning and thunder. ⛈⚡️😱 And started hailing.

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
