Friday 12 November 2021, Day 43 of Level 1 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#grateful for a busy busy day, phew 😱; for the day starting with the technical and organizational challenge of getting our apartment garage door fixed, a spring and a lever having broken and it not being able to open, but finding an amazing door specialist Tom from Doormac whose number I had in my phone from two years ago, and he came to our rescue, first helping to get my car out of the garage as I had to get to Utopia this evening, and then doing a temporary repair, which enabled us to get the door open and closed again, what a relief 🙏🙏🙏🙏; for Portfolio Manager Vanessa of Sandak Lewin coming to our rescue when she got out of a meeting, too much for my nerves, I trying to do my work amidst this stress; for a Bakoven walk; for photographing the engagement of Jacques de Lange and Nicole Fairman, Jacques being the son of my Facebook Friend Melinda de Lange but whom I’ve not met, and organizing bubbly on behalf of the mom ; for photographing a 30th birthday, and a team building held by the legal firm belonging to Rickma Coxon, whom I hadn’t seen in a good 2 years, so lovely to catch up at Utopia; for being able to book a table for Barry Nieuwoudt for Utopia for next week, while I was there🙏; for being so lucky to have this amazing job 💙💙💙💙💙💙; for going to Bacini’s for a pizza (not as good as the last one) and chocolate mousse, to celebrate this challenging but lovely-ending day; for getting cash back for my good driving and low petrol spend from Discovery Insure; for our amazing Building Manager Henry spending all day with numerous contractors in our building; and for being happy, healthy and free. 🙏💙
The Sweet Award went to Atlas Trading Company and the Sour Award went to ESKOM! 😡

We have a very strict quote approval system at EbbTide, majority approval ruling. Tom of Doormac gave me a verbal quote, just above our level of approval required, so I was desperate to get hold of Vanessa. I wrote to the Trustees, but only one of the other three Trustees bothered to reply, the garage door affecting the Nigerian tenant staying in the EbbTide apartment 101 of Rhode Snyman and his luxury Merc specifically, also calling and messaging her, but I received no response at all. Vanessa called me back eventually, after I had taken the decision to give Doormac the go-ahead. Vanessa agreed, and in a most diplomatic email argued that this was an emergency repair, and that we had to go ahead without majority approval. No one objected, just thankless silence. 😱😡
We also had an Electrician here for 4 hours, trying to trace the reason for our Day/Night lights on the stairs and in the passages not working since Tuesday, possibly due to the drilling into a wire by the balustrade installation guys! We are in the dark this weekend as a result, he also having to return on Monday.
In my next career I’m going to become a Portfolio Manager!
