Corona Virus: Lockdown Journey Journal, Day 43 of Level 1, 12 November 2021

Friday 12 November 2021, Day 43 of Level 1 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a busy busy day, phew 😱; for the day starting with the technical and organizational challenge of getting our apartment garage door fixed, a spring and a lever having broken and it not being able to open, but finding an amazing door specialist Tom from Doormac whose number I had in my phone from two years ago, and he came to our rescue, first helping to get my car out of the garage as I had to get to Utopia this evening, and then doing a temporary repair, which enabled us to get the door open and closed again, what a relief 🙏🙏🙏🙏; for Portfolio Manager Vanessa of Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a continuous 8 hour sleep, a luxury I haven’t had in ages, feeling energized for what I knew was going to be a busy day; for a sunny day with a mild South-Easter; for work work work work work, Mondays always being busier and closing times having to be changed on all our platforms when we go into a new Lockdown Level; for a maintenance contractor coming to quote on a balustrade at the apartment, something I have begged Sandak Lewin to do for the past 2 years, the contractor sounding very knowledgeable, so much Continue reading →

#Grateful for the third beautiful summer day in a row, at 24C, after we had the coldest week in 10 years last week 😱; for a productive morning, having to change client operating hours on their websites and Social Media, with Utopia reopening today, after 4 weeks of closure; for a quick visit by Werner and Rose Klein, who had an eventful day, starting with their second vaccination, which they celebrated with Apple Tart & Cream at Labotessa Hotel, where I will go on Friday after getting my second jab; for a trip to Hout Bay, Continue reading →

The Sweet Service Award goes to Sandak-Lewin and its CEO Carl Smit, for his very surprising but welcome acceptance of my request that his company not increase its management fee to our apartment block by more than the CPI of 4%, having taken 10% increases from us in the past three years, without permission from us as Trustees. Mr Smit has not been very professional to me in the past, in his response when I have written to him about the poor service we receive from his Portfolio Manager Greg Anderson since he took over our apartment block two years ago, not ever having set foot in it, and being very poor in responding to emails, or in actioning maintenance issues!  Continue reading →
