Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for a summer day at 21C, everyone happy, with a spring in their step, and Camps Bay experiencing a second boom day, just like a normal weekend summer day, with a traffic jam since midday, and still continuing, and our first picnickers visiting our suburb, feeling a lot like pre-Lockdown days; for minimal litter on my walk to Clifton, enjoying this walk, not having been here for more than a week; for a second shorter walk to Woolies, always happy to spot a bargain, seeming to become cheaper than our Pick n Pay; for a long sleep last night and the indulgence of a lovely snooze on the terrace, digesting Vit D; for my cute Minsky playing carguard from her perch on the terrace, as the cars inch through Camps Bay; for quick service from Camps Bay CSI; for another lovely concert by Daniel Hope of Hope@Home performed with the Slovenian Signum Saxophone Quartet in Bonn this evening; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙
It’s been such a calm and peaceful day, with the most amazing weather, so warm that I had to water the vegetable garden.
How lovely to see so many people enjoying the Camps Bay beaches, and Capetonians from other suburbs coming to enjoy our lawns, ocean, and beaches, bringing umbrellas and blankets with good old-fashioned picnics, not bringing those huge beach marquees. And loved that they created so little litter. There is hope. But it did irritate me that so many of these visitors did not wear masks, one person telling me that there are so few people here (hardly…. ) so that he does not have to! What a bad example for their children and what a risk to all. 🥵🥵🥵
A big thank you to Councillor Nicola Jowell for organising Law Enforcement to remove illegal Homeless structures in Camps Bay today, and that on a Sunday! When I saw them, they were tackling the structure and tents down a gulley alongside the SAPS parking. They were moving on to near the Tidal Pool, and then the Pump Station, to clear away more structures. 👏👏👏 Two Camps Bay residents questioned why this was done, after they had made sandwiches for the homeless yesterday for Mandela Day, a question that shocked me. 😱
And a big thanks to the City of Cape Town for removing the biggest pile of kelp which we cleaned up on Thursday. They arrived early this morning, needing to park on parking bays with their truck, to lift the kelp. We are slowly getting there to get Camps Bay in shape again. 👏👏👏
Many residents were happy to hear that Ocean Blue reopened yesterday, when they had announced their permanent closure early in Lockdown. I am so happy for our Camps Bay restaurants that they are so busy this weekend, with this fabulous summery weather. They do need our support.
The cashier staff at Woolworths are so friendly that it makes it a pleasure to shop here, greeting me by name. 👏👏👏

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
