Friday 5 June 2020, Day 5 of Level 3, after 66 days of levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a very good clean day; for the happy news that the Argentinian AirBnB clients left today, after 73 Days of being locked up/down in our block of flats together; for having Jameson’s left to celebrate with 🥃; for an exercise walk early this morning, getting up to the start of Clifton, despite my hip playing up today for the first time in months; for my back-up Health App in recording my steps the last three days, I never acknowledging it, as an alternative to FitBit, my walk this morning not recorded at all by FitBit; for having Leah here to do a spring clean deluxe, after almost 3 months of little cleaning; for fabulous service at Tiger Wheel & Tyre for the Discovery Insure vehicle inspection and receiving my garage card as well as device in my car to monitor my driving, a very painless process; for a lovely mild day, despite a chill in the air late morning; for the City Council staff repainting the red lines on Victoria Road, and learning what the zig zag lines stand for; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙

I couldn’t believe seeing numerous couples walking their dogs on Camps Bay beach during my walk this morning. Even more surprising was seeing at least 13 surfers in the water at Glen Beach. I was happy to see so little litter today. 😱

Leah arrived early by MyCiti Bus from Hout Bay, to do a thorough clean, and catching up on 3 months of ironing. She works at Peppertree Café (former Melissa’s) and I had a first-hand Report from her : not been paid a cent by her former boss nor received any UIF payouts, being Zimbabwean, and being denied food parcels in IY in Hout Bay, ‘Street leaders’ handing them out, but only to the Xhosa residents of the street! She has been cleaning for me over years, on and off, on her off-days. If you need someone to clean, please give her a call. I recommend her highly. (073) 951-9366

I had to laugh when she told me that a customer who was at the Café at the same time as I was on Wednesday, asked her after I left if I am married, and said he liked that I am so ‘fresh’, whatever that may mean. He was very smartly dressed, in a suit, the first such sight in 70 days, so I asked him how it feels wearing a mask when wearing a suit. He mumbled something back to me. Leah didn’t feel comfortable to give him my number without my permission. I gave her my blanket permission to do so in future…. . 😱😱😱 And she told me that she saw a lady called Kim reading my SwitchBitch Book 1 in Hout Bay during Lockdown, recognizing its cover.

While Leah cleaned everything else, I tackled the fridge…. not having looked good, compared to it being shining and sparking clean now, as good as new. I sent her home with food, grateful for a day well-spent. 🙏💙

My Blogpost today was the Sweet & Sour Service Awards, going to Pick n Pay and Discovery Insure, respectively. As I signed up with Discovery for my car insurance during Lockdown, I couldn’t get a vehicle inspection done until the start of Level 3 this week. I couldn’t do the pre-inspection myself, so was delighted that Tiger Wheel & Tyre was doing the inspections from today onwards, having originally been told that they will only do them from Monday.

Sweet Service Award goes to Pick n Pay; Sour Service Award goes to Discovery Insure!

I drove to town in a flash, and the Tiger Wheel & Tyre Assistant was fantastic in handling the little bit of paperwork, sanitizing the pen, and wearing gloves. She had to check my car exterior, and test the hooter. I received a sensor which will record my driving speed and skill, and a Garage card, to use at Shell or BP, with some money-back incentives.

I drove home as carefully as possible, having had negative feedback in the past in respect of Cornering, so I’m using a new route to bypass our Camps Bay curves. I felt sorry for the car behind me, as I was driving very slowly, for which I earned my first 5 star score. A man drove up to me at a stop street in Bakoven, and I recognized him as a fellow La Parada party animal, Soren from Denmark, full of compliments about how good I’m looking…I’d washed my hair today and wore it loose for a change, it needing a cut badly after 3 months… He gave me his business card, inviting me to send him an email…. 😱

Looking forward to having a drink and chat with Tracey Blom from Vyeboom near Grabouw. 🥃😋 Our monthly Full Moon phone date.

I’m all alone in the building this weekend, what freedom. ❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, and lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
