Sunday 20 December 2020, Day 91 of Level 1, Day 270 of Lockdown 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a fabulous day of birthday celebration, first with my Camps Bay Cleaners, who joined me for cupcakes & tea before we did a clean up in the lanes of Upper Bakoven this morning, for Jenny Stephens coming for Pink Gin and Christmas cookies; and for my friends coming to celebrate my birthday, 4th Advent, and Christmas with me; for the beautiful sunny 27C day, the wind picking up but still allowing us to sit outside; for my Alex calling me for my birthday ❤️; for hundreds of birthday messages which I haven’t yet all read; for Brian Van Hansen taking fabulous pics, which I’ll post tomorrow; and for feeling happy and healthy. 🙏💙

Camps Bay was much busier today compared to every other day of this past week.

My friends spoilt me amazingly: Jenny brought a candle and a Christmas tree decoration filled with fudge. Vivian Warby came bearing gifts, a most beautiful birthday cake decorated with Smarties, knowing my weakness, and strawberries, a cat tea towel, flowers, and some toys for Minsky. 🥰😻. Gary Peterson and Thomas Hohnke brought an amazing wheel of Brie covered in cottage cheese and butter and decorated with walnuts, and a ginormous plant holder with plants ❤️. Lindsey Killops Gibaud brought Biscotti and chocolate truffles which she had made as well as a special heated Camembert with garlic, knowing how to work my oven better than I do. ❤️ Rose Klein brought the most amazing German Christmas cookies which she had baked herself, and a plant, while Hans-Werner Klein was the perfect bubbly pourer. Emma from The 41, and Lorraine from my Tourist Guiding course joined us too. Brian van Hansen brought mince pies, and took amazing pics. Craig arrived later, a lovely Camps Bayer whom I have met with his wife Lisa on my Camps Bay walks since Lockdown started, a laugh a minute; and Bernard Gutman arrived even later. We missed Johan Prins who recently had a heart op, and Stuart Bailey. 💙

We sat inside to light the four Advent candles, and I shared our Advent tradition.

It was sad that everyone had to get home before the Curfew, the end to a lovely evening.

Thank you to everyone for all your good wishes and all the love I received today. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, and lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
