The Sweet Service Award goes to Camps Bay Hardware, and its owner Jared Stein, a real Community-oriented business, in which customers are recognised and greeted by name, and are offered discounts. Should Jared not stock an item, he offers to obtain it from elsewhere, and has even dropped off some of my orders to my home!
The Sour Service Award goes 95 at Parks in Constantia, and its owner Chef Giorgio Nava, nominated by Hans-Werner Klein after dining at the restaurant recently. Mr Klein wrote the following review on Google for Business after his visit, he and his wife leaving the restaurant as quickly as they could, they were so disappointed:
‘Last Friday, after studying the menu (95 at Parks Menu), we were looking forward to going to the restaurant because we wanted to eat typically Italian again. However, we were very disappointed when we were only presented with a small daily menu with much less choice than the website and at different (higher) prices. When asked about spaghetti/pasta and seafood, it was pointed out that no spaghetti and no seafood were offered. I then only decided on a Primi course, since I didn’t like any of the suggested main courses. My wife chose pizza, but it wasn’t worthy of Italian cuisine as it wasn’t authentic pizza dough. All in all a big disappointment and our first visit was also our last’.
The restaurant replied rudely and condescendingly, and in the poorest English spelling and grammar, as follows: ‘Thank you for your review (sic) Lees, our chef is from milano the capital of food in Italy , we definitely not serving any of the primi piatti or panarotti dish that u (sic) probably recognise as Italian speciality , yes the current menu is smaller then (sic) before considering the current circumstances, our pizza is really Italian stile (sic) ( not colcacchio (sic) ) but we respect that you didn’t enjoy (sic) But Luckily many other do particularly (sic) our montanara pizza, wishing u (sic) good evening 95 team’.
