The Sweet Service Award goes to Camps Bay Law Enforcement and its acting head Officer Ivor Ramsay, a breath of fresh air who landed in our suburb during the start of Lockdown. The office has been very poorly manned in the two years since I returned to live in Camps Bay, and one rarely sees any officers walking the Promenade, which means that illegal trading, begging, unlicensed vehicles, alcohol consumption on the beaches, and littering go unchecked. A homeless person Michael Shange, who has been aggressively begging locals for contributions to his ‘Beach cleaning’ activity in Camps Bay in the past two months, but just taking the money and not cleaning, and has been seen walking along Camps Bay intoxicated, is being dealt with by the office, following a number of harassment complaints it has received from locals.
The Sour Service Award goes to Sandak-Lewin, the service offered by its Portfolio Manager Greg Anderson, responsible for our apartment block, being beyond shocking, not responding to emails, being poor at following up on outstanding issues, raising the company’s management fee by 10% despite the inflation rate being 2,4% and is intended to be ‘negotiated’ by the two parties annually, and refusing to visit our block in the eighteen months since he took over our block from a colleague, the last two aspects being in breach of the contract between EbbTide and Sandak-Lewin! During the AGM at the end of June Anderson promised to mend his unresponsive ways, and promised to acknowledge all emails received on the same day. Sadly this lasted for less than a month, and he has fallen back into his poor customer service habits. From feedback I’m receiving Sandak-Lewin is known for its poor service, and the company does not seem to care about its customers, who are the Trustees and owners of the buildings they are intended to manage.
