‘SA’s most experienced Restaurant Reviewer : accolade from IconicZA magazine!

In my ‘career’ as a writer I have been called many things by not so nice persons in the restaurant industry. It has been a wonderful experience to have new descriptors added to the collection describing me: ‘indomitable’, meaning impossible to subdue or defeat, and  ‘most experienced restaurant reviewer’, both accolades by the new IconicZA digital magazine in an article in its October issue.

For readers who have not seen the article, and would like to learn more about me, warts and all, I am sharing the content of the article: Continue reading →

Thank you 2020 for everything that you have taught me, my Top 20 of 2020!

I was very excited about the year 2020, having the 20th as a birthdate, and it being my lucky number. Despite the tragedy of the Corona Virus pandemic and the inconvenience of the Lockdown regulations at times, 2020 turned out to be one of my best ever, learning from it and growing through it.

On Facebook I have posted daily Corona Gratitudes, for the small and big things that have come my way in the past 9 months. There are far too many to mention, so I have turned this post into a Top 20 of 2020, an unforgettable year for all of us. Continue reading →

Gratitude for 123 days (4 months) of Corona Virus Lockdown, a new way of living and being!

Today 4 months ago, on 27 March, we started a new way of living, in Corona Lockdown. I’m grateful that I could qualify and be registered as a Tourist Guide in this time. And that I have never been lonely with the company of Facebook, my playlist, Kfm, and my German TV stations ZDF and ARD.

Friday 12 June 2020, Day 12 of Level 3, after 66 days of Levels 5 and 4 😷

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for more rain falling today, even though it wasn’t forecast; for finishing a Camps Bay Beachfront walk before the rain came along surprisingly, and it not being too cold to be outside, few exercisers being outside; for getting my writing done early this morning; for an interesting visit to the new The Slick Group central city kitchen for Deliveries and Collection, which commences tomorrow; for the cancellation of my trip to Stellenbosch, giving me time to discover some Lockdown Food gems in the City; for a fabulous lunch order I placed at Pilcrow & Cleaver, roasted tomato soup perfect for the rainy day, and an extra duck spring roll treat; for the weather clearing, allowing me another walk, through Bakoven; for a happy candlelight evening dancing 💃 to Kfm at home; and for being happy and healthy, my temperature reading being 37C at one of my stops. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
