Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a 27C day, the wind picking up now; for the invitation to meet restaurateur Victor Gonçalves of NV-80 in Sea Point and have Dilmah Earl Grey tea with him; for finding three-quarter leggings next door at Pick n Pay Clothing, not being able to find then at Woolies; for getting my power bank cable problem sorted at a Pakistani cellphone shop on Main Road, and my glass protection screen replaced at a reduced price, feeling as good as new now; for sitting down and writing all afternoon; for an energetic walk to Clifton and back, gaining 300 points; for the delivery from TakeaLot of two generic Cannon printer cartridges, costing next to nothing by comparison and working perfectly; and for being happy and healthy 🙏💙. Sweet Service Award goes to PnP Clothing; Sour Service Award goes to The Ladder!

The Sweet Service Award goes to PnP Clothing in The Point in Sea Point,  and its staff member Clemenshaw Petersen, who collected two pairs of shorts in my size from their Kenilworth branch on his day off, and brought them to the Sea Point Branch so that I could collect them there. He called me the day before to confirm that he would do so, keeping me informed. The quality of clothing at the clothing store has improved due to a new buyer, and some branches even stock a new Gavin Rajah range. Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a warmer day, but not feeling like the forecast 23C; for a beautiful sunset combined with clouds, making for great photographs; for sleeping off all the horridness of yesterday afternoon, feeling energized and calm and peaceful today; for lunch with Henry at Firefly Café, which served food for the first time today; for a lovely trip to Regent Road in Sea Point, buying another pair of shorts at PnP Clothing and ordering more; for the surprise discovery of Bokeh Creative Space, a hairdresser/coffee bar opened on Regent Road by Adrian Lazarus last week, he recognizing me as a Facebook Friend (we had never met) and inviting me inside; for buying little treats at Spar and Woolies, the latter enlarged, having added the space of the former Tops; for a gift of five bespoke Kalahari Salts, delivered by Mark McCarthy from Iconic Brands; for another walk to Camps Bay, loving the sunset at the Tidal Pool and a long chat with Law Enforcement Officer Ivor Ramsay; for dancing to Kfm 💃; for hearing from my Camps Bay Clean helper Joel, not having done so in a month, coming back to work tomorrow; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for another beautiful day, at 22C, summer is almost here, but not for long; for a happy sunshine spirit after all the grey rain days; for a good admin and writing morning; for a call to Verishnee Mayer; for a sunny walk through Camps Bay, popping in at Firefly Café, checking if they got their tea ordered from Dilmah, at Tindlovu to check a menu detail with its GM Chris Papayannes, and at Ivor Ramsay at Law Enforcement to assist a local resident deal with a tented settlement going up opposite her house; for a visit from Ines, who cycled all the way from Hout Bay to buy SwitchBitch Book 1, having connected with each other via Facebook, she being very interested in local restaurants too; for loving my new black shorts I bought at Pick n Pay Clothing, fitting perfectly and comfortably, not having been able to try them on in the shop, so much so that I’m going to buy another pair 💙; for a sunset walk through Bakoven; for meeting a township gardener in town to buy two lemon trees, going into pots; for receiving a copy of Sommelier and winemaker Jean Vincent Ridon’s new book ‘Passion for Pairing’, personally hand delivered, for reviewing; for no Loadshedding for us today;  and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →
