Corona Lockdown Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a day that didn’t start off too well but got better and better; for getting 6 hours of continuous sleep last night 🙏; for a working morning, doing some chasing up of promises made, and preparing for two Status meetings; for fetching my new specs, very happy with them, and delighted that I received a 20% discount as a Discovery client; for donating blood, there being a huge shortage đŸ©ž; for a wonderful gin tasting of Cape Saint Blaize gins from Mossel Bay at Utopia Cape Continue reading →

Sweet Service Award goes to Western Cape Blood Service; Sour Service Award goes to Sandak-Lewin!

The Sweet Service Award goes to the Western Cape Blood Service, and its Branch on Long Street especially, for doing an amazing job in encouraging blood donors to donate blood. I receive an sms message every three months to donate blood, and the welcome at the Branch is warm, the Covid protocol is strict, my iron level is checked, my blood pressure is checked, I receive a juice while donating blood, and I receive a wonderful cup of tea afterwards, with a selection of biscuits and fruit cake. One of the ladies who ‘checks’ us in knows that I drink my tea black and weak, and makes it to perfection. We receive a gift on most visits, yesterday’s gift being a pair of winter socks (will be passed on), and two branded masks. Continue reading →

Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for all the rain overnight and this morning, the day clearing to a mostly sunny afternoon, perfect for going for a walk as far as Clifton 4th Beach, as well as a late afternoon one through Bakoven, bumping into Haakon and Thomas BauerkĂ€mper, the most often seen exercisers since Lockdown began over 3 months ago, I wearing a short-sleeved top, it was so nice and warm; for being a busy 🐝 this morning, having a deadline by which the Body Corporate AGM queries had to be sent to Sandak-Lewin 48 hours in advance, despite their Portfolio Manager still not having answered all my AGM questions sent to him a week ago, earning him a big fat Sour Service Award 😡; for a long cat cuddle in bed this morning đŸ±; for a long chat with my MasterChick Jenny Stephens; for dancing to my playlist and to Kfm; for my stress level dropping, measured by my Resting Heart Rate; for receiving a call from the lovely Law Enforcement Officer Ivor Ramsay, who is back to look after Camps Bay, even if just for a few more days; for another concert by Daniel Hope with his Hope @ Home on Tour, performed at the Monopol, formerly a Distillery in Berlin; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

Sweet Service Award goes to FitBit; Sour Service Award goes to Sandak-Lewin!

The Sweet Service Award goes to FitBit, for their fantastic service when I handed in my Charge 3 tracker at Sportsman’s Warehouse at The Point in Sea Point for repair. The staff at the outlet told me that it would cost R100 to courier my tracker to the repair centre in Johannesburg, and that I would be liable for the repair cost, without being able to quote for it. It would take weeks to do the repair, given that fewer staff were working.  I was very reluctant to send my tracker off, after hearing this information. But when the FitBit was really playing up, no longer measuring all my steps, and not measuring my heart rate at all, I had no option but to hand it in at the outlet, as a last resort. Ten days later I received a Sms, informing me that I could collect the tracker at Sportsman’s Warehouse at no charge, I went there immediately. I was delighted to be told that I could select a new tracker, and that the upgraded FitBit Charge 4 costs the same as the Charge 3, so I could go home with a brand new upgraded FitBit, which Steve from Sportsman’s Warehouse synced with the FirBit App on my phone.  Continue reading →
